I've just got off the phone to Virgin about travel insurance and they have quoted me £480 annual travel. Yes you read that correctly. I do have a small back problem, sciatica but have not had an attack for over a year. I am not on medication. I wouldn't have minded but back in January they quoted me £139 and I gave the exact same answers!

I'm looking for a decent company, worldwide annual travel for me and my partner. Any suggestions?

Don't know if you would be interested or not, or if you already may have an account with Natwest, but if you open an Advantage Gold account with them you get free annual travel insurance for you and your family. I think there is a small annual fee for maintaining the account, but you don't need to keep any money in credit. You also get some other perks like discounts on stuff. :confused3

Try M&S.
They covered Phil last year but said their criteria had changed this year.
They were very good at paying out when we had to claim for a 36 hr delay and DD's ear infection :thumbsup2

Also, maybe, Age Concern.
They've picked up on Phil, this year, where M&S refused :sunny:
Only £88 for his single trip, worldwide ins, after he's been quoted almost £700 :scared1:

Just a suggestion but maybe call Virgin back and speak to someone else?
The person you last dealt with might have misunderstood your answers.
It has happened to us before now :wave2:
Stress the no medication and date of last flare up etc :)

I'd hardly have thought sciatica was a reasonable reason for such a price hike - there must be half the population who've had it at one time or another :confused3

Good luck :hippie:

Try Norwich Union. They quoted us just over £100 for a family policy (2 adults, 2 teens) and were prepared to cover my daughter for ADHD (I know it's unlikely to cause her any medical problems but at least I have the peace of mind that she's covered fully) :thumbsup2

Be careful with offers like this as they often don't cover pre-existing medical conditions and would charge you to get the adequate cover. Hope you get a good quote.

Claire ;)

M & S were brilliant, last time DH ended up in hospital and there was no hassle also the post office are apparently very good my dad always uses them, he has previous medical history that can cause a probem with insurance for him but he would recommend them, good luck. :mickeyjum

Hi take a look at www.direct-travel.co.uk we have used them for 5 years, annual cover for us both is £57.02 I have claimed without any probs for £800 of dental work in Orlando.

This morning my DH rang Virgin and answered every question they asked honestly but did not offer information they didn't ask for and was quoted £119 for annual insurance for the 2 of us. We took it

When I rang last week I think I may have over complicated the issue by mentioning my Sciatica which I haven't had for over a year now, am not on prescribed medication for, and am not awaiting treatment for. Doesn't explain the £300 hike from my original quote when I'd also mentioned Sciatica.

Cross fingers all will be OK

I wouldn't worry Cheryl :) I'm convinced many quotes depend on whoever answers the phone on the day ;)

I've spoken only to Boots (its early days yet, just getting some idea) and was totally honest with my info. Too honest I think. My eldest DH had to have major heart surgery at 11 days old to correct a congenital problem. All sorted, check up every 2 years, not on medication and to see him you would think blimey he's got lots of energy yet Boots won't cover him. I wouldn't mind if they just said "we'll cover him for anything not connected with heart problems". Goodness knows who we'll get cover with and how much it will cost. :furious: Will follow up some of the above suggestions.
