Wheres the cheapest place to get it?

Also when I was pregnant I had pre-eclampsia and one of effects of that was that I had high blood pressure, do I need to declare it to the insurance company? :confused3

would be grateful for any answers you can give!! :simba:

We found the cheapest for a single trip was Tesco.

Unfortunately we needed to claim as we had to cancel the holiday when my father-in-law suddenle dies. They paid out with no problems.

we use www.insureandgo.co.uk had no problems we have clamed for hurracane problems ie extra fuel used and state taxes from miami we were due to pick up from tampa and we usaly get an annual from them

Hi

I must agree the cheapest is not always the best I use the Halifax World Wide travel insurance paid online makes it a bit cheaper and you can use it as many times as you want.Regarding the blood pressure you have to declare it but it does not cost you any more so it is no problem. :wave2:

We also used direct travel insurance. We didn't have to make a claim, so don't know how good they really are but they were well priced and efficient in sending out documents, etc.

shop around...

oh.. and don't do what i've done... and bought 4 lots of single trip insurance in the last 12 months... not thinking i'd be going away again each time... 12 months was like £20, this way i've spent over £40.. and (thankfully) never had to claim anyway!

Definately declare any pre existing conditions, if your high blood pressure was temporary and you aren't on any existing medication then it'll be passed no problems, but if you are ill and you need to claim, they can and DO use it against you if you haven't declared.

i post this every time someone asks about travel health insurance, but i'll post it again..
the one most important thing for us in choosing travel health insurance is it must include medivac.....that is a private medical evacuation plane with full medical staff....it can get you home even in the most critical medical condition....and that's where i want to be....home...
i do not want to be hospitalized in the US (or any other country where i find myself).....at least not for more than a day.....
for treatment i want to be taken back home....and if you're in need of hospitalization the only way to get home is by medivac.....so that's what we get...every single time we travel...

Thanks for all the advice! I will definately declare the blood pressure problem I had during pregnancy. :)

If you click on moneysupermarket.com it will give you prices on hundreds of policies on a screen with summaries of the cover provided by each. I've used it in the past and found it very useful.

I'm really curious on this one - about Jen's blood pressure :)

Would you really need to declare bloodpressure caused by pre-eclampsia?
As a nurse I would have thought not but guess that maybe it's best to mention anything 'just in case' :confused3

I had high blood pressure with all 3 of my kids - first time 22 years ago, last time 7 years - but have never thought to tell the insurance people as it settled afterwards.
Obviously, if it hadn't I would have said something :)

Anyway, guess I'm not going to start now but I was interested to read some of the comments.

:hippie:

I'd personally declare it, should ANY complications arise from any other illness the fact she hadn't declared it COULd and I stress could either void the claim or delay it dramatically. I deal with loads of insurance companies (not just the ones I sell!) and they are all wigglers when it comes to actually paying out. As I said before theres very little chance that any company would load a premium as the blood pressure problem doesn't incur any regular medication or other side effects but its better to be safe than sorry, after all a quick phone call may make the difference on a check up claim needed because she fainted and bumped her head.

i wouldn't tell them about it...it's associated with her pregnancy and nothing else...

telling them about it just means they won't cover it anyway so what advantage is that?

Not necessarily true, Beth many insurance companies will cover minor ailments IF they are declared prior.

I think I will just declare it , it was only during pregnancy my BP went up so its not as though its still a problem now, I would be terrified if I had to make a claim and they refused to pay as I had not informed them of it!!
