Does anybody have any information on what would be the cheapest/best travel insurance for someone with Type 1 diabetes? My DGF's diabetic and I've been looking around for a decent policy but as this is the first trip I've organised I'm not really sure what wouold be best :confused3
I don't know whether to get my own cheap insurance and then search for one that covers diabetes for her, or whether we can both go with the same company. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I go with Nationwide (as in the building society) travel insurance - they fully cover my type 1 and other conditions too. I take out an annual policy and it's a lot cheaper than some of the specialist insurance companies who cover diabetes. They'll also cover you as well.

we use Go travel insurance and they cover us (family of 4 with dabetic girl on an insulin pump) worldwide including water sports and skiing for £110 per year. This also covers my girls insulin pump and parts - which are very expensive. hope this info helps you. If you need any other advice about traveling with a diabetic let me know as we have traveled around a lot from the tropics to the artic with her.

Thanks for the great replies! I think I'll price the insurance with both and see what I can get :goodvibes

Thanks for this thread - I have taken out an annual policy with Nationwide and saved nearly £200 on what Diabetes UK quoted my family :thumbsup2
That will pay for a few extra treats when we go to California in August :cool1:
