I'm trying to find a reasonable travel insurance quote for an ex-cancer sufferer.
My Dbf had cancer 9 years ago and has since been cured and cleared and is no longer monitored or attends yearly check ups.
But it is a nightmare trying to get him insured for our 4 day trip to DLP without it costing a fortune so I was wondering if anyone had been in a similar situation?

Any help would be so appreciated :goodvibes

My DH was treated for cancer 17 years ago. Only occassionally has it affected our insurance quotes and never by much. The most irritating part is that we always have to phone up to declare the condition and therefore often miss out on any internet savings.

Our most recent insurance was with Sainsbury's who said that after so long it wouldn't affect the premium (although obviously the type of cancer may make a difference.)

Thank you, If I'm honest I've only tried online quotes with specialist insurers, so the phone calls start tomorrow :surfweb:

Will try Sainsburys since you mentioned them, plus the nectar points would be handy haha

My ds has had cancer and is still undergoing regualaur treatment. I can reccomend the following insurers -

Post Office - They insured us when he had a 12 month break from treatment at very little cost.

www.travelbility.co.uk - They insured us last trip and was fairly reasonable for us considering right up to the last minute we were waiting fro permission to go.

www.jdtravelinsurance.co.uk - These come highly reccomended and for us its been an amazing price !!

Also I would say you can choose to opt out of insuring against the pre existing medical condition - which for us would be a risk but for you guys doesnt sound so much of a risk !!!

Thank you Buzz for boys :)

Just an update incase anyone else has been stumped by this:
After reading the policy booklets of both the Post Office and Tesco travel insurance they will insure anyone who has not been diagnosed or received treatment in the past 5 years.

Tesco has proved the cheapest for us for the amount of cover you receive

Another job ticked off the list :thumbsup2

In fact, some insurance companies will not offer any insurance at all, or indeed those who have cancer. The companies do offer insurance, but they sometimes cost you more than your flight.
