Planning to spend a week or so at POP. Orginally planned to spend a few days at UO, staying at HRH, but can't afford the outrageous rates. (With new MYW packages, it's much more cost effective to stay at disney the whole time!!)

Thinking of taking one day to visit IOA. What's the best way to get from POP to IOA, and any idea how much it would cost? How long is the trip?

I don't have any answers for you but I am going to "bump" :bounce: this up because I would like to know as well!

I know that Mears offers shuttle service between the Disney resorts and Universal Studios and Sea World. I have never used this service, but intend to do so in September.

For those that have used Mears for transport to Universal Studios, how is the trip back to the Disney resort scheduled? Do you have to schedule an exact time for pick-up at Universal or can you call for pick up when you are ready to leave?

Hey...

I just recently moved to the area (Tavares) and Universal is very easy to get to for me. (I take Route 19 to the Florida Turnkpike and get off at Route 4 for just a short distance and there's an exit just for Universal - think it's 74B) So I was hoping someone would answer so I can see the reverse...getting to Disney from Universal.

Mears shuttle is about $14 per person round trip from WDW to Universal. I believe you call them two hours before you want to be picked up for your return. Go to www.mearstransportation.com for info.

Happy Limo (they are recommended on mousesavers.com) charge $35 (one way) from Disney to Universal or Sea World in one of their Caddy DeVille's or Lincoln Town Cars. They charge per Car, not per person.
Here is a link to their other rates: http://www.happylimo.com/orlando_limousine_rates.html

I will use them for transportation from the airport to HRH in April.
Good Luck!

I always rent a car for my entire stay and drive from WDW to Universal. If you don't want to rent a car for the entire stay, it might be cheaper to rent a car just for the day you want to go. you can rent car's on disney property. It would depend on how many of you are going to make the drive as to whether a car for the day would be cheaper.

I take the back way to avoid I-4. Take Turkey Lake Rd. which is on the western boundary of the Universal property south parallel to I-4 until a left at Palm Parkway. Turn left off Palm Parkway on to 535 and be prepared to make a quick right onto Hotel Plaza Blvd. This road leads directly to Downtown Disney and all of the parks have sufficient signage from there.:moped:

We were staying at the Howard Johnson Resort near Disney. It wasn't too bad, about 20 minutes including traffic. I'm not 100% on the directions, since it's been a week or two. I know we took 194? to I-4 and got off on the Universal Studios exit (74b if I recall correctly) =D .. to get back, you can take I-4 back .. 64b or something like that, not 100% sure on that one.

I know there's a Lynx bus that goes from the TTC to Sea World... they may go to Universal too (from the TTC) ... their website is www.golynx.com
If I have a chance I'll do some research on this for you. You could also just get a taxi, but I have no idea how much that costs either.

The other day Mears taxis quoted me a fare of $26 one way, from Disney to US. This was per trip, not per passenger.
