Travel from one resort to another

We had planned to drive down to DW but have now decided to fly. We see no need for a rental car, given the shuttle system, however we have two dining reservations at other resorts that we will need to get to. We are staying at Caribbean Beach and have dinner reservations at Coronado Springs on our check in day, and breakfast at the Grand Floridian (1900 Park Fare) on another day. Obviously we can take a shuttle from Caribbean Beach to a park, and then shuttle back to the other resort, but we'd also like not to spend the whole day on the shuttle, so what are some strategies for getting form one resort to another? We have a family of 5. Can we get a cab? Uber? (Any idea what that would run?) Is there a trick to optimize the shuttles to make this work? I assume there's some smart way we can utilize the monorail for 1900 at least. What have other people tried? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

We stayed at Coronado last year and took a cab to AKL multiple times for meals. It was easy and pretty cheap. However - not 5 of us... so that stumps me a little. We always had the doormen hail the cab over for us (they should be sitting right there already, most likely). I wonder if you can ask the front desk to call a mini-van cab for you? Otherwise, if you want to stick with shuttles - the key is to grab one that is headed to some place convenient to both your original location and the ultimate destination; don't get on the Disney Springs shuttle! You'll still waste time shuttling around no matter what, of course. Honestly, that trip last year was eye-opening for DH and me, as taking the quick cab rides was far more pleasant than multiple shuttles. We'll continue to do that for resort-to-resort travel.

I don't think I would bother with cabs for 1900 Park Fare though, unless your breakfast is super early before all transportation is up and running. You can shuttle to MK, then take the monorail or boat to GF. For us, either option pretty much counts as an attraction for our family and are part of the fun.

I agree with cab/uber to Coronado, it is not far. We did a taxi from Coronado to Beach Club, which is about the same, for about $8. You could check Uber app on your phone to see prices for that - I know they have categories that can fit five. When you check in, you could also ask the front desk about a taxi that could take 5, and they should be able to help you. If you decide to shuttle, go to Epcot or DHS, which are close to you and Coronado. As PP mentioned, 1900PF is easy by going to MK and hopping the resort monorail or ferry. Even better if you are headed to MK or Epcot after, so you can hop back on after to head to MK, and then just switch to Epcot monorail if going there.

I never recommend trying to take the buses from one resort to another. It can take forever. Cassie58 is correct - take the bus to the Magic Kingdom, then monorail to 1900. Other than that - cabs or rental car. We used to not rent a car when we flew, but having to wait 8 hours to get our luggage from the Disney shuttle stopped that.

Almost every time we took a Mears taxi from one resort to another the vehicle was a van that held 9 people. We didn't request the van, it just happened to be what showed up. I don't know if Uber has vehicles that will hold five people but the regular taxis have them.

I've used uber for under $5. For the Grand Floridian I would take the bus then hop a monorail or boat (love riding both of those). But for Coronado, just Uber it.

We took a taxi back from the Boardwalk one night because we ate at ESPN and don't want to change busses at DS. The staff just called a van up front and the fare was $7.50 to AoA. My husband said that ride was golden. He would have paid $20 not to have to change shuttles. I also read recently in another post about a bus not coming to get guests early in the morning for rd at a park. I'd familiarize myself more with the uber app to be able to call a ride immediately if I thought I was going to be late for an ADR or miss the opening of a park for an important reason. Not sure if it's harder to get a vehicle for 5 but I'd look into it now versus waiting and finding out that day.

I would Uber or taxi and save myself the time. It isn't expensive.

We stayed at CBR in September and used cabs a few times. There were 7 of us so we just requested a van taxi (it's the same price). It was around $20 to go to the Polynesian (w/ tip). For us the cost of a few taxi's is much more reasonable then renting a car. We called Mears direct and they sent a cab right to our village at CBR (you don't need to go to the custom house). They also have an app.

If you decide to use Disney transportation I always tend to go to the park closest to either my location or the place I'm going to eat. For Coronado, I'd probably go to Ak and for GF I'd go to MK and then take the monorail to GF. Breakfast is tough though depending what time it is and when the park opens, I'd probably just get a cab.
