We are staying on Disney but will be spending a day and a half at Universal. We are a party of 9. How is the best way do you think to get there. We are not renting a car so it will have to be taxi or car service. If taxi, can we get a van taxi and what does it cost? How do we get a taxi? Just ask at the front desk? How long does it take to get from Pop century to Universal (ETA)? What are the cost nowadays for car service?

call some of the car service companies and find out who has the mini busses for transporting 9 people.

the ones i am aware of charge an additional $10 per person when you have more than 4 people to ride. there is one that allows up to 5 without the additional charge.

also go to the mears site and check what their charges are.
you can also call them. up to 11 passengers for this one.

this is the regular mears taxi website:

i would book ahead if possible to seccure the transportation in advance.

it is possible to have the lobby concierge at pop to help you book transportation also.

my guess for travel from pop to universal would be up to 20 minutes.

the travel time would vary depending on the time of day you want to leave pop.
i always travel opposite of the rush hour time period.

Thanks Macraven! We are planning on going Thursday morning all day and then 1/2 day on Saturday. I don't know why I was thinking that it took longer to get there. Thanks.

thursday is a great day for universal.
saturday, if you go in the morning when they first open and make that your half day there, you will miss the major crowds then.

the lines start to get long when the crowds start to come in around 11ish.

We left from Port Orleans Riverside this morning going to the Royal Pacific Resort...the luggage services right outside riverside called "yellow cab" for us. A van picked us up and its cost me 31.25. He was not the nicest driver and smelled like he just smoked something (and it wasnt cigerettes)...I was very leary of giving him my cc, but i took a pic of the van number and telephone # just in case anything was not right later on with my cc bill. Im sure yellow cab company is an alright service, maybe I should have asked for Mears, but I just assumed thats who Disney used.
