Travel city direct

Just returned today from our trip with TCD, personally i will never use them again as we were delayed for 24hours on the way out and missed 1 day of our holiday! No-one from TCD came to explain and we were mucked around from the start. That said the leg room was much better than with Virgin and the seats were comfortable. There were no seat back tv's just the big screen and many peoples headphone sockets did not work. The staff were very helpful and friendly on the plane and as they are registered in iceland and not the uk we were able to strap my ds (11 months) into his car seat on the plane, which made our lives much easier as he slept most of the way in both directions.
As they are cheaper than other airlines i was expecting a shabbier plane and no seat back tv's ect but i cannot excuse the delay or how we were treated, and the letter of apology and letter for our insurance companys we were promised would be at home waiting for us on our return is not here yet!! looks likr this may be an ongoing saga for us.

Good luck to anyone flying with them in the future

Alex

Sorry to hear you were delayed for so long  Did they give a reason for the delay? Or was the info not very forthcoming...I have heard that TCD are not very good at communicating when things go wrong

I've booked our fly drive tickets for July 2006, through Travel City Direct. After spending numerous hours shopping around they were by far the cheapest for the time of year we will be travelling. :cool1:

I used TCD in 2000, the last time I flew to Florida, and I didn't have any problems. ;)

Sorry to hear of the 24 hour delay Lexie. It must have been a terrible start to your holiday.
Hopefully it will be an isolated incident as the price they charge compared to other operators makes it a very attractive agent.
On a like for like basis I saved £800 pounds using TCD rather than Virgin, thats a lot of spending money.

its also a lot of money for poor service and 24 hour delays, which are a frequent occurance with this company, still, each to their own requirements :sunny:

Thedifficulty with TCD is not in the fgact they are more likey to delays, that may be arisk worth taking, but the appaling way they treat thier passangers during the delay and there attitude that is so bad.

I have found that booking seperalty can be cheaper. The flights with TCD are low, but they do charge over the odds on the car hire, so it can be done as cheaply, usually wity US airlinesm, but also somethimes with BA or Virgin. (For example, currently special offers of £299 for flights with both BA and Virgin, then seperate car hire, family sized car with all insurances for about £20 a day). THis works out less than TCD, but it all depends on dates.

The sad thing is, if TCD would at least talk to people and let them know what was going on it would cost very little in monetary terms and create so much good will, but they seem detemined not to.
