2 quotes from travel city direct and virgin for 3 adults 4 kids and 1 infant.

Virgin is dearer than travel city direct which is to be expected. But the amount by is scary.

Travel City direct comes it £5548 with tickets + insurance.
Virgin comes it £6300 without tickets - insurance!!!

We are part of the frequent Virgin scheme and then it came down to £5743 still without tickets.

Never flown by TCD how are they?

WHat does VFM mean? The only thing I am concerned with is the inflight entertainment is it any good?

I have flown with Virgin 4 or 5 times, and once with TCD. You can not compare the service. We flew with TCD because of the price. Next time we go we are flying with Virgin. We are only flying Virgin for my next holiday because Virgin was only £60 more expensive. TCD is OK for the price you pay. For the price that you have bean quoted, I would fly with TCD. The only BIG problem with TCD is that they do not have as many plans as Virgin.

I think VFM must stand for Value For Money.

Not used them myself but know folk who have and they have no complaints. There was a previous post in the last few weeks which I believe stated that they were replacing or upgrading some or all of their existing fleet.

It's all down to individual choice really. I would love to fly either PE or Upper class with Virgin but can only afford economy as long as it gets me there in one bit I'm :) :) :)

Flown TCD twice, and would do so again.

No IFE, but with the saving over Virgin, you can afford to buy a couple of portable DVDs and still be quids in. So far as the "fewer" planes argument is concerned, that would only make sense if Virgin brought in a replacement plane when they have problems, which they don't!

Enjoy:thumbsup2

Been with them once, no problems at all. We would use them more if they catered for our odd night trips, unfortunately don't do 24 nights or 9 nights.
I looked at their Easter price for when we are doing 14 nights and they were over £1,000 more than putting the package together myself.
I think they have got very expensive unless you can fly in low season, then the offer really good prices.
I use Virgin for the convenience of MAN-MCO direct for any number of nights to suit us but their service has gone downhill in recent years, they are no better than TCD IMHO.

thanks for the replies all. Does TCD have back of seat TVs or then coming on the new planes? There will be 4 kids going on holiday and you know what kids are like!

Was looking at their site last night with my best man (well, as long as he can find a flight and hotel out there anyway!!! Not looking a lot about then, maybe i should've realised that people who aren't teachers or parents don't realise when half term is!!) and they didn't seem to offer anything for less than 14 nights - is this standard?

don't hold your breath with TCD... they've been saying they are getting new planes for about 2 years!!!!!
9 hours is a long time without films cartoons etc.... be prepared!

we are going with them this oct, and they are def getting other aircraft cos we originally booked march last year and it was a jumbo from glasgow and we had booked upper deck seats, i learned from Obi that there was a problem with their lease for 747s and after a lot of hassle and aggro we are now travelling on a different plane on economy cos they couldnt accommodate everyone on the premium seats, plane is smaller but thats as far as we know at the moment.still with TCD though.

Have you looked at Expedia, they do Virgin flights but they seem to be much cheaper than going direct to Virgin.

They shouldn't be, Virgin have a price guarantee, they can't be bought cheaper than direct.
What dates you seen cheaper?

Big change of plan now for us it seems. Mum and dad will be paying our fly drive for my family with Virgin and we will book direct with someone to stay in Disney. This should happen touch wood. I am just hoping it will be soon!

BTW Anyone going I recommend Tour Guide Mike even though it is US based some really good tips on saving money ;)
