I finally caught the show last night and taped it. I only wish it was longer. I would have loved to see them follow you guys for an entire week. Of course you may feel differently having gone through it.


We really enjoyed watching you and your family. It's nice to see people getting the most out of their day. - Plus now my dh realizes it's not just me who plans EVERYTHING!


The only thing I had a hard time wrapping my head around was when they showed the alarm clock going off at 8:50 for the Levy's.
- Then they went to the spa-- What's up with that? To each their own though. My dh thought that sounded wonderful. I guess that's why Disney appeals to so many people. Lots of choices.

I can't wait to watch it again.

You may not be alone in this, but the people wearing their hats aren't alone in it either. I often wear a baseball cap when I'm at Disney (my hair just does not like Florida weather). Once I have that hat on, I rarely take it off due to very bad hat head. When I was admonished at the 50's Prime Time Cafe I took it off because I'm all for playing along, but I don't feel bad at all when I am at the other restaurants because they are all full of vacationers who are all doing the same thing. You can say it's a flaw with the younger generations (I'm 29), but I see people of all ages at WDW wearing hats during dinner.

Our family watched this show again last night!

Dave, I have already mentioned to Erika and Joslyn on the other thread that their groups did a wonderful job and wanted to let you know the same. It is great to "know" a celebrity. Don't worry about watching yourself over and over again, if it were my family, we would be watching it daily.

By the way, I do a weekly schedule and hand one out to each person in my family. It just lists the "planned" park for the day and any PS's we have. My 6 and 8 year old just love to check it constantly to see what we will be doing that evening or the next day. And Grandma and Grandpa find it really handy when they go with us too! This is on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. Never thought of doing daily ones on small index cards.

Gotta say I loved the show! I taped it for my co-worker who is making her first trip to WDW next month. She is always asking me, "why are always reading up on WDW stuff? If its so fun, why do you have to plan so much?" Planning is part of the fun, so I was glad you said "We start planning months ahead" (or something like that!) She still isn't planning all that much and she leaves so soon, but hopefully this great show will give her a bit of a boost! It was wonderful!
Anyways, I am glad you guys got picked...they had a great mix of ages, etc between all the featured groups, which I thought was great. You did a wonderful job!

Hey Dave - just watched the show last night and I loved it! I said to my DH - I wonder if any of these guys are on the DIS! We are at the AKL for the first time in 5 weeks so we were doubly excited to see you guys there. I got chills a couple of times when everyone was mentioning the emotional bonds they have to disney. It felt good to know that there are others out there!

Thanks so much for everyone's well wishes! It's fun to feel like I have a living room full of people watching the show with me (now someone's gotta clean up the chex-mix that spilled in the corner).

A little more about the much commented planning schedules. You'll notice in one shot, my oldest son (the silent one) is checking out his schedule. We're always doing this after we exit a ride -- it gives the kids a chance to agree or veto. It's also a way of educating the kids as to when it is the best time to ride certain rides. On our next trip (in 7 days, 21 hours, 15 minutes, 32 seconds), Stephen is making the schedules!

The poncho's question -- see older posts about "magic water" in your shorts for a day. If the weather is hot, I just lift up my shoes and hope for the best, but in cooler weather, you bet I've got on the poncho. We did Popeye (at IOA) once, and it was a day ender for the boys in our group. Also, if it rains -- we've got coverage. Besides cost of buying poncho's at Walmart, back when all the Disney poncho's were yellow, it was also a way of not loosing our kids.

In defense of the couple who bought their ticket at the gate -- everyone here knows that is not the way to buy a ticket, but I think the message they were giving was what the producers were trying to send -- buy a multi-day hopper and the ticket never expires. I did have to chuckle that at Rose & Crown the just "happened" to have a table available by the lake!

One last tidbit: The soundman for the production (we love you, George!) was about as friendly and professional as you could ever want. We wore microphone packs all day, and after a while we would forget they were on. Then we'd be sitting on the curb waiting for the parade and one of the kids would say "Dad, I'm thirsty." Soon, there would be an intern with 5 drinks. Then one of the kids caught on and whispered into his mic, "Hey, I need $100." The soundman would say "You're on your own." The funniest time was when my wife went toward the restroom, and the soundman came running saying "I don't want to know you THAT well!"

Well, if you missed the first four shows, we'll be on again on Monday at 1:00pm and 11:00pm central time, and Sunday, August 15 at 4:00pm central (we'll be THERE on that date!). Thanks again for all the love!

Agreed about Popeye...the worst thing was our Woody Woodpecker ponchos didn't even save us on that one. I can't imagine riding that one in less than 85 degree weather, it was such a nightmare to dry off. Come to think of it, Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls was almost as bad.

OK - so, what I was thinking while watching was it can't be they got free vacations because how fair is it the Levy's got to stay at GF & that one family (yours) got to stay at AK Concierge & then that other family (Erika's) got to stay at Pop Century etc so who chose resorts? theSurlyMermaid -- that Popeye ride scared the pee out of me (though it was so wet none would know). There was one guy who rode with us (didn't speak English, so I don't know if he read the signs), and at that last big rough-water part STOOD UP THE WHOLE TIME!!! I was sure he was going to fall off. We also had useless poncho's on that ride, and it was in December -- so we rode it last and got in the towncar soaked.

WDWalways -- the Travel Channel chose the resorts for us. It somewhat made sense for what they were trying to convey. We were highlighting Animal Kingdom (which we were not as excited about) so we stayed at AKL. I did feel bad for the Erika's clan who was crammed into Pop Century (but it's a new resort that they I'm sure wanted to highlight). It would have made sense that one family would have been put into Saratoga Springs (I think it was open when we were shooting). Erika -- they owe you more day-passes -- I'll advocate for you!

Gotta get back to work -- and making my schedules for next week!

I loved the show, since we TIVO it we will probably watch it again and again.

I agree with the Rose and Crown comment, we love that place and go often but have never been lucky enough to get a table like the Levy's got.

As for the schedules, I also make one with parade times, ps's etc.. I get lots of ribbing from my family (they love it they just want to give me a hard time). After seeing your schedules I think I will make one for each of them - that should freak them out.

What, exactly, is the problem with wearing a hat at dinner? I'm a non-hat-wearer but I have never been offended by anyone wearing a hat at dinner. The ONLY problem I can see is that if you are wearing an obnoxiously large hat and are blocking the view of a show. What gives? Why are people so upset when someone keeps their hat on?

I just loved you and your family. I am so glad that they didn't show the great buffet at the end of the Sunrise Safari. We don't want too many people knowing about that. SHHHHHHHHHH!

My DD7 saw your schedules and said she has to have a schedule for Nov. I keep a daily schedule of parks and PSs but not one with so much detail. I guess I had better get busy. I may get her to make it out.

It used to be considered rude for men to wear a hat indoors, though women could get away with it. Personally, I don't care if someone wants to wear a hat indoors so long as it doesn't block my view of a show. But people who don't take their hats off during the National Anthem really gets to me (this happened at the Am. Adv. while the Voices Of Liberty sang--at least 4 or 5 men didn't remove their hats). Take off the hat--even if it's not your country's anthem! I would take mine off (and I'm female) regardless of which country's anthem was being played as a sign of respect.

What is it about wearing a hat that is disrespectful exactly? What is it about an uncovered head that is more respectful than a covered head? There has to be a reason...

Dave, I had to come on over here and prostrate myself before you here too. I am so embarrassed and feel I have to own up to living in a glass castle to you wherever you are posting. For those of you following along, I said that the Lloyds level of planning scared me and seemed un-fun. Well, now for the truth:

Oh, I am mortified - serves me right! You all still scare me with your planning, though. Holy organized (and I say that in reverence to your profession )

I have a confession to make - I made up these extensive day by day guides for the famliy we were traveling with on our trip before the last one - I spent weeks and weeks getting everything perfected on those day guides - they went out the window once we got there and we again flew by the seat of our pants, except for our PS times. And when I also went to Europe, I had laminated sheets and mini-booklets for each place we visited. So I also am a compulsive planner. Those who throw stones live in glass houses is what my tag should say.

I really am a nice person, really


So, just you wait and see, when my children get to be unruly teenagers, I will go a step further than you and have laminated sheets for them to follow along with I am sure - I am that bad.

Castlegazer -- lol -- you guys are so nice here, you should have seen what they were saying about us on another (unnamed) board! I absolve you of your guilt (even though I can't really do that!). You're a fine person, and to be honest, every time I've seen the show I ask "Who is that geek in the Hawaiian shirt and the car-saleman do?"

And on this thread about hats -- it's a generational and regional thing. I'll never forget I was taking a youth group of about 40 teenagers to Disney after a Mission trip, and we all ate at Cindy's. We had a blessing over the meal, and I had to stop and laugh as about 30 Goofy hats were removed!

pirateofthecarolinas -- I WISH we had had the buffet after the Sunrise Safari! Since we had to "fake" the Safari (it wasn't taking place on the day we did it -- so they had to stop Kilimanjaro for about 10 minutes to make it look like we were doing it). Instead, we were given some sweet roles and juice from the Tusker House, and had to cram them down our throats in order to get to Tought 2B a Bug on time (which was not shown at all in the video). I think we were so nervous at that point, we wouldn't have been able to eat anyway. I've heard the spread is fantastic.

Wow! I didn't realize as I watched last night that you guys were Disers! This is too fun.

You and your family were really great and Erika's family were too. My DH (who isn't nearly the fan I am) was very impressed with all that you did and the great places there were to eat. "See Honey," I said, " We haven't even begun to see all the World yet." Now he's excited about going back (soon we hope).

Anyway, really great show. I'm looking forward to seeing it again tonight (Monday 11pm). Have fun next week!
