Travel Agents

We have never used a TA. I prefer to do the research and book everything myself. I'm anal that way...can't give up control, I guess.

I want to do it all myself, but I am afraid I would miss a disount or something if I didn't have a TA to watch for them for me, lol!!

I understand that! You can watch the Discounts sub-board over on the Resorts board, they won't let you miss anything.

However, I know there are a lot of excellent TAs out there, too. Make sure whomever you go with is a Disney Specialist. Local TAs and a lot of AAA agents don't always know the ins and outs of Disney, and they may not watch for discounts for you. Be aware, if you use a TA, that person owns the reservation until you check in; Disney won't discuss the reservation with you or allow you to make changes to it.

WOW! I didn't know that - very interesting...

The boards are owned by Dreams Unlimmited so if I were going to use a TA, I would use them, otherwise I would just do it myself.

Yes - I looked at them - seems they have a good reputation - have been around for 12 years and actually came about AFTER the disboards were created and they found there was a need for disney dedicated travel agents - it also appears that many disney travel agents use Dreams Unlimited's business model for their own agencies...which I think says a lot about Dreams Unlimited -
I am just wondering of the people out there that use travel agents which ones they use and why? Esp. if there might be a particular agent that has made their trips extra magical :)

I of course recommend a travel professional. And do be sure they have taken the time to complete the Disney Travel Agents education and receive certificate to prove it. Another thing is to make sure they visit Disney... There is more to selling a destination than reading information. Actually experiencing the destination is important.

I know Agencies/ people give specialized gifts without advertising it because many suppliers don't want or don't allow discounting and have strict discounting and gifting policies.

Also, if you like to plan and research... do it... then use a travel professional to book it... why? Because a Travel Professional that sells thousands of Disney vacations per year has a better chance of getting something extra, or fixed than just a person booking their own vacation....

JMHO FWIW

This is sooooo me! There's no way I'd ever let anyone have control of planning and booking my vacation other than me. Plus, I find it enjoyable and it's super easy.

We use Ramon with Glass Slipper Concierges. We just finished our third trip booking with him.

We use Dreams Unlimited. Our agent Ron is AWESOME!!! :cool1: We used them for our trip in 2011 and for our trip coming up in 2 days.

It was so nice to just give him our requests for dining reservations and for The Pirate League and BBB and at the 180 day mark he and his team made all the calls and got us all our reservations for the times we wanted. So nice to just get the email from him that everything was set. :goodvibes

He was well aware of the S/P/D discount that was made available and made sure that we got the discount which saved us a huge amount of money.

I would highly recommend them to anyone that asks.
