Travel Agents with Rooms?

So I really blew it. We had discussed going on the Disney Fantasy in March during our kids' spring break (sailing 3/19). But due to a bunch of things sucking up time (including my MIL's death), I am just getting around to booking.

Sure enough--nothing available except a few inside cabins. I've cruised too much to be happy in an inside cabin with 3 other people.

And I don't have time to search the clunky website several times a day to see if something opens up.

So, any recommendations for a travel agent that might be wiling to do that for me, or for a consolidator that might have outside rooms available? Ability to pay with Disney Rewards if a plus but not a necessity at this point.

Thanks in advance. I'm really annoyed with myself and trying to figure out if this is even a possibility or if we should make alternative plans. Our kids have never had a break before...so 10 straight days off could be a blessing or a nightmare!!

At this point you are going to pay out the wazoo for Spring Break, regardless of the type of cabin. I would make other plans for 2016 and look at booking for 2017.

I think any Disney Authorized Vacation Planner would be happy to do this search for you. I would get a hold of an agency you are comfortable with, let them know what dates and stateroom categories you are looking for and give them the info and authorization they would need to book it as soon as something becomes available.

Would you be happy with 2 inside connecting cabins (if that is available)? That is what we (4 of us) did on our last Disney cruise and have booked on our first Royal Caribbean cruise for spring break 2016. We got a 7 day on the Liberty of the Seas over spring break for $1100 per person, including tips and insurance. We plan to add a drink package, but haven't done that yet.

Ouch!

Liberty of the Seas would be less than 1/3 of that. The change of Disney's alcohol policy is what got me to shop around and choose Royal Caribbean. The price difference is likely what will get me to stick with them. Only time will tell, but am very much looking forward to the Liberty, especially with the new water slides being added.

Part of the problem is that the 3/19 sail date is one of the Star Wars Day at Sea cruises. Once the Star Wars day at sea cruises were announced, the prices skyrocketed - so you are paying a premium rate on an already premium date and cabins filled. Don't know how much luck you are going to find with an agency that has group space on this cruise. Since DCL is showing limited space, I would think they have recalled unsold group space but I guess there is an outside chance someone is still holding some rooms. Any reputable agency would be willing to check availability for you but there may not be many cancellations until final payment time.

Thanks everyone! I do realize that Disney is more and that that particular week is outrageous. But there is a limited age window to take kids on a Disney cruise, and that just happens to be their spring break. So I will see if something opens up and in the meantime try to find another line/ship with good kids activities.

If you are really looking to cruise with Disney that week, have you considered the Wonder from Miami? It's only a 5 night cruise but you could add a couple of Miami beach days before the cruise to get a full week of vacation.

My kids are 12 & 14, so characters aren't as important to them as they used to be. With that being said, our Royal Caribbean spring break cruise has Dreamworks characters and they had me book the character breakfast.

We took our (adult) children on their first DCL cruise after we'd been on 3 DCL cruises. We started DCL as adults, and still enjoy it. After all Walt said it best "I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether we be six or sixty." Applies to DCL as well.

I don't believe there's a window for a Disney cruise. Go on one when you're ready. Go on another line if it works better. Apart from getting off the ship on castaway when jack sparrow was greeting, DS hasn't met a character and has had a perfectly fine time on dcl. (Likes kids club better on Royal and has more fun memories from Vision and Freedom but that doesn't mean he did t have fun on Dream the four times we've sailed Dream)

Our next two cruises are royal but I'm sure if we cruise dcl again at 12 yo and beyond he will still have a good time. Even if he never meets Mickey onboard.


But if you really want this cruise why not just contact Dreams Unlimited to see if they can scour for you?

As an FYI when we did that on Freedom it was geared to the preschool set. It felt condescending to DS and he was 9. Being condescended to is one of his irritations with DCL and he didn't expect it at all on royal. Weird bc the characters are from movies that aren't geared to preschoolers, but the "heads shoulders knees and toes" songs the activity people ran everyone through before the characters came out was definitely not for the kids of shrek-appropriate age.

And the food was awful. I wish you luck with it.
