Travel Agent vs AAA

I've been wondering - have any of you found better rates through AAA?

In the past, we have used a Travel Agent for our trips. I know I am fully capable and knowledgable enough to book on my own, but I love that added touch of an agent.

With my agent, I've gotten the standard discounts that Disney routinely offers.
Is AAA any different? Do they seem to get better deals? :confused3

Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!

AAA are Travel Agents. They would be able to book the same deals as any travel agent, but the difference is they can book an AAA package which has a few additional perks but typically the cost is the same. You can get an AAA discount if you're a member (don't have to book through AAA) but the discount has to be available and usually any discount Disney offers will trump what AAA is offering.

Thanks. I know AAA are travel agents, but since they are such a large entity, I was wondering if they could harness better deals....

I hope this can help you. I have booked my Disney Vacations for the last seven years by dialing 407-939-5277. We go twice a year. They take care of my rooms, dining plan and dining reservations, park passes, etc. The best part is I have talked to many people who have been to disney with similar bookings and I have always had the cheaper trip. Last September we had breakfast with a couple our age (60's) and starting talking. We began to compare notes on our stay and especially the cost. They went through AAA, I made the Disney phone call. We had identical rooms, meals package, and park passes except I had the Park Hopper, they did not. Our trip, for the same days was $800. cheaper. I have many friends at work who have tried going through a travel agent or AAA and when I give them the Disney number, they report that the trip was so much cheaper that way. I don't know why or if this works for everyone, I just have my experiance to back me up. Next trip is 67 days.

FYI - Disney has discontinued all AAA Discounts for 2015. No more room only or package discounts under AAA.

if you book with AAA you will be booking with a travel agent.

AAA has a 10%-20% room rate discount depending on when you go.
it cannot be used with any offer that disney has but its great if you go when disney is not offering anything cuz you still save some money.

plus january is disney month at AAA so if you book through them you get a little something extra.
this year it was a tote bag of goodies like snacks, a disney world hat, and a disney CD.

personally i enjoy booking my trips through AAA.

Thanks, all. Your info really helped me out. I think I'm just going to book on my own directly through Disney this time!:cool1:

I spoke with a AAA agent this week and she confirmed that the discounts for WDW were cancelled come 2015 :(. The pricing was identical to the pricing WDW gave me.

On our recent trip I went with a travel agent offering rooms at the Poly for $189 per night. Much cheaper than AAA or Disney was selling them for.
