Travel agent question

I've tried getting POR at and AP rate for the end of June through early July. Nothing is available. (Sorry to repeat myself to those who read my Coronado Springs thread.)

My question is do you think a travel agent would have any luck getting this rate? I don't know anything about using a travel agent. To me half the fun is planning the vacation myself. I don't even know how it works. Do they charge a fee?

Sorry for my ignorance. Any help is appreciated.

No travel agents do not charge a fee. They make a commission for booking the hotel. Travel agents do have access to other rooms but don't think they could get an AP rate if you can't unless they are an agency that does a lot of bookings with WDW.

I doubt that a TA will have any better luck for you. I had a POR reservation and when the AP rates were announced my TA could not get me the AP rate on the room, so I had to cancel and change to CSR. Although I wasn't sure about it I decided after some research that I may really enjoy this for an adult only anniversary trip.

Have you tried Dreams Unlimited? They have the ability to get AP rates (if they're available).

But, if you have your heart set on POR, it just might not be possible this summer, due to the closures and rennovations. From what I've read everywhere, the closures of POFQ and partial shut-downs throughout POR have made the moderates "very tight" in general, but POR is particularly hard to get.

DU tried to make reservations for us at POR in late May and Disney ended up automatically switching it over to CBR.

Actually TA are able to get AP rates i know this for a fact. I tried seeing if i can get an AP rate at POR for my trip and i was unable too but my TA agent did wind up getting it for me. I got through Small World Travel Adventures. Very highly reccomened go to mousesavers it talks about them on there.

My TA is at DU. While I'm sure it is possible, I bet it has to do with dates. I am not flexible with mine. If there are rooms available for the dates you are looking for with the code you are using I'm sure it is posssible.
