Travel Agent Question

I am a Disney Travel Professional and a part of an 'Ear Marked' agency. I can tell you that the commission has zero effect on the price of the package or on any prices for that matter. We basically have a heads up on discounts and will do the work of waiting on the phone to change a reservation to include the promotion on an existing reservation. We monitor rates daily to make sure the lowest rate is applied to the package. There are also a lot of other benefits but this is just in response to your question about pricing.

I am so happy that we went with an agent on our last trip. I did it because I wanted someone else to deal with dining at 6 am, I have to be in the shower and getting dressed at that time to get my kids up by 6:30 for school. I think the part that was really wonderful about it though was that she called me on a Saturday while I was hiking with my cub scouts to tell me that for an additional $150 she can get us into a deluxe instead of moderate.

There are a ton of qualified, respected TA's who work with Earmarked (Disney authorized) agencies who do NOT charge planning fees. They will receive a commission on the trip that you book through them and so they offer their planning services (if you choose to used them) free of charge. As msb578 said, if this TA is charging you a planning fee, run! Find another agent.
