Trash The Dress

Sorry ladies, not to sound naive, but what is Trash the Dress? I've never heard of this before.

It a photo shoot that takes place after the wedding in your wedding gown.
The groom is usually in the photos too. Some go in the water for the pictures, either a pool or the beach or some just get down and dirty in the sand. I saw David and Vicki Arndt doing a Trash The Dress Shoot and they had both the bride and groom in the swimming pool in their wedding attire.
I was just passing by and didn't have time to stop and watch, but it looked like they were getting some nice pictures and having fun.:cool1:

Thank you for letting me know. I had never heard of that before. I should ask my friend that we're using as our photographer if she'd be willing to do something like this for us after we have our MK-Epcot Photo Shoot. I don't know how early we'd have to do this since ours will be at a busy time in the Summer.

Besides a pool or beach, where else on Disney Property can you do this? I should suggest my sister, and both Sil's Bring their Dresses and do a shoot with me(could be so much fun). Luckily my DH isn't wearing a Tux, but I could arrange for the other Bil's to wear a dressy shirt and pants too for the shoot.

This sounds like such a fun idea.

I told her I already preserved my dress, and she said that's ok, we'll go buy one from a thrift store just to trash :rotfl:
So come join the fun!

I've been looking at a thrift store bridal gowns but most look like they are straight out of the 80's. :rotfl: I'm going to check some online sites for used dresses.

Did you see the new TTD pictures they posted to their Facebook page?

Were we thinking of doing it at a Disney Resort? The beach pictures are stunning. They also added them to their website.

We decided to do our TTD with David and Vicki. Typhoon was only available on the last day of our vacation, and we decided that wasn't how we wanted to spend our last day.

We are doing ours now @ Stormalong Bay. We get to use the resort pool before it is open to the public, which is awesome! David and Vicki have been great to work with so far!

I'm doing a trash the dress shoot at Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. It can be done but you have to pay for the lifeguards.

Oh my goodness-we are so doing the Trash the Dress! It'll be great! We're scheduled for October after the wedding of course. The price is more than reasonable-$650.00 plus $50.00 for the two lifegaurds. We're adding the Jasmin upgarde for an additional $125.00. We're also doing an EPCOT Shoot and upgrading our Escape photography to the Cinderella Package C w/dvd.

We feel that the DPS is very good, the staff is wonderful and only Disney Brides get those photo opportunities. So if you have to cut something, don't cut your photography money as the photos are what last for years to come.:cloud9:

Do you mind me asking what David and Vicki Arndt are charging for your TTD Session at Stormalong Bay? Do you get the high res. images?

Thank you,
Suze

I just did the Trash the Dress session with David and Vicki at the Poly and we got some amazing shots. I would definitely recommend it. For those brides that are afraid to trash your dress, mine came out cleaner than before I decided to "trash" it LOL I want to do another session with them to really TRASH my dress. They are so much fun to work with and they will do anything to get a great shot. The two of them are very creative! She just posted some on her Facebook page.

Could you post your pics?

I'm so glad someone asked about this! I was just staring at my wedding dress in the back of the closet today and thinking I'd like to do a trash the dress session, maybe on our 1st anniversary. And it would be so much fun to do it at Disney since we had our honeymoon there.

:scared1:OMG...you guys are so brave...I LOVE the pics but am terrified I would ruin my dress... plus I was married 13 yrs ago so getting back into it would be a challenge:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Might be something neat to do if we would renew our vows...we have talked about it in 2 years for our 15th at Disney since I did not get my Disney wedding :guilty:

Randy Chapman said he did one at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the pictures are on his site. He seemed open to any ideas we would have. Still thinking about it but this might be an option if we can't afford the MK shoot :)

I SO want to do a family trash the dress with myself my love and my daughters. Like we are ever going to wear these clothes again, and we aren't having a true reception (does dinner at the Cinderella Castle count? :)....)

Any idea what the Disney resort rules are ? - We are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and would love to do an hour shoot with us in the pool and around the hotel!! Since my dress won't run, the only rules I could see about resort pools is that you have to wear a swimming diaper :rotfl2:

Disney photo services will do Animal Kingdom Lodge photos.
Now we got some great pictures out of the photographer at Walmart. And a LOT of shots in 15 minutes.

Has anyone considered doing a trash the dress with a Disney photographer at a resort hotel? :P

Disney Photography is charging a lot more and I think that's the reason most of the brides are going with outside photography for the resort pools. You have to use Disney Photography if you want to do it at one of the water parks.

Disney photographers charge $750, which goes for both parks and resort pools. Most outside photographers charge around $300, which includes the DVD. I did Stormalong Bay at the Beach and Yacht Club with an outside photographer, but we ended up running into some issues with the head lifeguard (even though the photographers called in advance and got permission). They said they have never had a problem with any other pool, so I would suggest using a different one, or paying extra $$ for a lifeguard if you want it there.

I loved your TTD pictures! They were some of the prettiest and most romantic I've ever seen. I've wanted to do it for a long time now. It probably doesn't matter where you get them done since you mostly just see the water, right?

Thank you so much, that is so nice of you to say :goodvibes David and Vicki definitely did an amazing job!

Personally, I think it does matter where you get them done, depending on your preference for the pictures. When I was looking at other photographers sites, I personally knew I didn't want to do it at AKL since it gives off more of a green/brown tinge (I still thought the photos were awesome though). I think doing it somewhere with a beach is fun too, since than you can get beach and lake shots. If I could do an anniversary TTD, I would want GF, Poly, or the WL!

PS I wanted to add that I have so many more TTD pics that I will put in my TR soon!
