Hello Everyone! I came across some pretty pictures of a bride trashing her wedding dress on the beach in the ocean. What is the purpose or tradition behind trashing your dress and taking photos? Do you still keep the dress? Thanks.

The purpose of a trash the dress shoot is to get cool-looking pictures! :goodvibes Photographers seem to love doing these shoots because there is more room for creativity. Usually the idea is that you're never going to wear your dress again, so why not trash it to get some great photos in water or dirt or whatever. (Sometimes brides buy a second dress to wear for a trash the dress shoot.)

However, since all but the most expensive wedding gowns these days are made of synthetics, it's possible that the dress will actually survive the experience with just a good cleaning. :thumbsup2

My daughter wants to do this, first I was freaking out but then thought why not. I have also seen some really great pictures of this. But now since they changed their minds and are getting married on the Wonder, she said she can't do it (at least not right after the wedding) I think it would be great fun if they had a few pictures taken in one of the pools onboard the ship. Jumping in or possibly sitting in the Mickey Pool...LOL.

But then she said she is worried about what she would do with it for the last few days of the Cruise and then a few days at WDW. I told her I think if she were to hang it in the shower and on the balcony most of it would dry???? But she is concerned that it will be a pain in the rear to haul around for the rest of the trip. So I am not sure at this point if she will change her mind between now and then or not. I kind of hope she does I think they would be great pictures if she were to do them on the Ship.

I trashed my dress in the AKL pool 2 days after my wedding. It was a lot of fun and we got some great pictures from it. After the shoot, I let my dress dry off on the balconey and had Carolyn Allen's come by and pick it up to get cleaned. Once it was cleaned, it was shipped directly back to my house so I didn't even need it drag the dress home with me. The dress is fine and looks like the day I picked it up from the bridal shop. There was no staining or discoloration.

Now that looks like a good time! I would love to do this but I don't think DF could do this with me in his dress blues.

We did our MK shoot right before the Trash the Dress shoot. DH couldn't wear his tux in the pool because it was rented so he just changed into a pair of black pants and a black button down shirt.

This is a really fun idea! Great pics!

I'm getting married on the beach so I'm doing a TTD :)

I'm really excited about it, and the truth be told I have to get it cleaned anyways so why not get my moneys worth

I'm thinking of doing a TTD photo shoot on our HM in Puerto Morelos in Mexico, depending on the cost of course... I think a good photographer could really get some great shots there.
