This may seem like a silly question. What do you do with your garbage at Fort Wilderness?

I have stayed at parks that have dumpster or trash cans throughout the campground. I have also stayed a RV parks that have daily pick-up. What do they have at Fort Wilderness.

The reason I am asking is for the type and size of trash bags to purchase for trip.

FTW is awesome in this regard. Each campsite has its own large capacity garbage can. There are also plentiful bins for recycling. Cleanup crews seem to empty the garbage cans on a regular (I think daily) basis.

This added service spoils you for other campgrounds, where you have to shlep your garbage to a central dumpster.

We had to share with other campsites but none of the bins were far away, usually just across the street or the site right beside us....so they are shared (or at least they are in the 1500 loop).

In the 2000 Loop they are shared also, maybe one can and one recycling bin per 3 sites.

I also just hang up a small trash bag right at my sight, that way I don't have to walk to the trash bin for every little piece of garbage, then empty it into the can every couple of days.

The cans and recycling bins are emptied several times each day.

Usually there is one, partially buried, 55 gallon can for each two or three sites. Just buy whatever size trash bag you normally use in your camper. When it's full just tie it up and take it over to the can. I normally use the large kitchen can size.

I'm surprised you haven't had any night time visitors if you leave your trash hanging outside.

Ha Ha, I thought you were talking about trailer trash, I know you di en.

I might be trailer trash but I am proud of it. LOL :rotfl:
But I was wondering about the other type of trash. Thanks for the info. I usually keep the tall kitchen bags in the TT. The designer's of RV's forget about a place to put a trash can. So we only have room for a small one in the kitchen and bath. They seem to fill up rather fast.

We hang ours up too but it's just paper trash, no food. Never had any critters going through ours. The only critters we've seen hanging around our site was a black racer snake and a couple of very friendly rabbits.
