Trash and Towel Service Tipping ?

Disney does not consider Mousekeeping a tipped position. It's your choice whether to tip and how much. Others can state what they do and if they tip, how much.

I'd leave a few bucks for each visit, per room, simply as a motivator for a staff that's not paid much.

For Trash & Towel I usually leave $3 or $4.

Only 2 of us and I "prep" everything anyways but we still leave a few bucks. I gather all the trash and tie off the bag, & put all the towels in the tub.

I don't tip them, in fact I wish they would not even come in the room, they do so little. I do hope we are paying them more than housekeeping at other WDW resorts. DVC housekeeping work all day but don't clean and change sheet daily, etc, so they do not get tip that others would at a regular resort.

As others have said, Disney does not consider this to be a tipped position.

I don't leave any tips for housekeeping.

Another non-tipper here. Never have and never will.

For Trash & Towel, I'd leave $3-$10 depending upon the size of the unit. I leave more on the full cleaning days.

I just can't reconcile expecting a 2-bedroom suite to be immaculate when we move in with refusing to leave a tip when we move out. Do we "owe" that tip to the staff? Of course not. But if the room is in good shape, I would never pass up an easy way to keep a minimum-wage staff motivated.

That's my reasoning as well. I always leave a tip in a hotel room and I continue to do the same at DVC. If Disney housekeepers know they will make the least amount of money doing the toughest work at DVC, why would the best housekeepers want to work there?

We don't tip for Trash & Towel service.

I tipped $2 on T&T day, and another $5 on Full clean day. Our Full Clean day actually was our day 4 instead of day 8, so we left a note for housekeeping to leave us an extra box of laundry detergent, and extra garbage bags. We ended up with 3 extra detergents, about 25 extra garbage bags, and some extra bathroom soap as well. So, there are times when tipping does pay-off.

When you are on a longer trip, they do the full cleaning on Day 4 and T&T on Day 8. I'm with you that a tip can sometimes bring unexpected bonuses. ;)

I am an intermittent tipper, mainly to see if it really makes a difference. Although after reading "Nickeled and Dimed" I am definitely more apt to tip at hotels than I used to be.

It seems to definitely make a difference in the service you receive! I'll leave a couple of dollars on full cleaning days and $1 on trash & towel days (I just stay in a studio), and our room is nice and clean. We like to collect the stationery, so we'll leave a note asking for a little more stationery and we usually get plenty! Also, if you are hoping for a towel animal, or some other cute Mousekeeping gift, this is a great way to encourage it.

It makes us happy to express our thanks in a very small way for a good job that has helped make our vacation wonderful. I, personally, would not ever, ever want to work in housekeeping, and am very grateful that others do this service for us. Plus, I didn't think this is a very well-paying position. I leave a tip most of the time, and it's because I want to.

For the 2 of us neat adults in a 1 BR, I leave $2-3 on trash/towel day and $10 when we leave (after 5-8 nights). Sometimes I just forget on trash/towel because I'm so relaxed :-)

On our last trip (4 nights in 2 BR and then 5 nights in the 1 BR section), DH gave the housekeeper $5 on the full cleaning day. I'd intended to leave more, so left $15 when we checked out. So, there's not necessarily any method to the madness.

We stayed in a 1 bed right next door to some friends, also 1 bed at OKW just a few weeks ago.

On T&T day, at about 10 am maybe earlier. We all slept in.
I was at our friends when a tap at the door, door opens. HOUSE KEEPING She just walks in and starts her thing. Our friend looks at me like "what?"
He doesn't know what norm is and frankly I have never been in the room when they did this and would think she would just come back.

Anyway dh and dd were sleeping in our unit when she entered our room. He yelled to just leave them by the door. She did and she also took the 3$ that was addressed to housekeeping on the mirror by the door.
I figured that was our T&T's

She came back later after we had gone and left extra towels, soap, shampoo. Just maybe 1 or 2 of each. Towel animal and stuffed animals arranged in the living room.

I ALWAYS tip DVC housekeeping. If I were in any hotel I would do the same and everyday. 5 to 6 bucks for 5 nights is no big deal. And I do believe it makes a difference in the service.

What is "Nickeled and Dimed" that you are referring to?

No, we don't tip for housekeeping unless we need some extra special service.
