Hi,

For all of you who were Disney brides who flew, how did you pack the following items: (carry on bag or check in)

Dress
The ring ( Ok, I'll "guess" they were attached at the hip) :-)
the cake topper
wedding jewelry
the Taira

Thanks!

LAH

All of those items will be in my garmet bag that has a few pouches for extra items like my jewelry, shoes, the rings, and our gifts bags for our guests. I hope they have something I can hang it on, but if not at least I'll be getting my dress steamed the day of my wedding.

My dress was put into a garment bag along with my MOH dress and we brought it with us on the plane. My mom brought down my crinoline in her suitcase. My veil was packed int one of my suitcases (I left it cliped onto a hanger and packed it with my dresses for the honeymoon and rehearsal dinner) We didn't have a cake topper, but if we had, I would have shipped it down to my EM before the wedding with the rest of the stuff that I sent down. All the rest went carefully packed into my carry on bag.

LAH -
I put the shoes, dress, crenoline and tiara in the garmet bag which I checked (please don't flame me - I had faith that the dress would be fine and it was!). Our wedding favors were packed on one of our suitcases. We had the cake topper (in it's box), rings, birth certificates, jewlery, wedding programs itinerary and wedding party gifts in our carry-ons. We waited to wrap the wedding party gifts until we got to Disney in case TSA made us open them.

Hello again,

Does the airline have a place to hang my dress or does it have to go in the over head compartment?

Depends on the airline. We flew JetBlue, and they don't have any place to hang to hang a dress. The same is true on most of the other 'low cost' airlines. The other airlines (Delta, American, etc) will have closets in their first class section. Many brides have had success getting their dress hung in that closet even if they themselves are not flying first class. Otherwise, it would have to go in the overhead compartment.

Most airplanes have a closet that is for the pilots stuff..........if you call ahead and then ask really nice when you go to board the plane they will let you on ahead of everyone and hang your dress in the pilots closet. At least that is what we did.
