Transporting Sand Ceremony Bottles after use

Do most Sand Ceremony containers come with a lid to use?

If yours didn't, how did you transport it?

They do come with lids - we just used the one the florist provided. After the ceremony our WP put the lid on and put it in a box with some other items from the ceremony.

We're looking to do a sand ceremony. What are the containers like that Disney provide? Do you get a choice?

This is ours. We didn't specify any special kind of jar, so I assume this is the standard. The top is also glass - it is sort of like a yankee candle jar.

We are not doing the sand ceremony but I remember that Summer had trouble transporting hers back home and the colors got mixed up. I think you really need to fill it up high to the top and get some sort of seal to keep the sand from shifting.

I didn't know that Disney had jars for you to do the sand ceremony. How much do they cost? Do they have sand you can purchase also?

We've been qtd $25 for the sand ceremony which I think comes with the glass holders with two different colours of sand ???? Does anyone else have any pics of their glasses. I'm from the UK like Summer so I'm a bit concerend of getting it back cause it may weigh a bit...

I just went back and looked at my floral BEO - it looks like the three containers, the sand and the ribbons on the jar were $25.

I remember Summer saying that when her sand jars were going through security, the guard took it out because he didn't know what it was - and then shook it . I'm definitely going to try to find a jar that has a lid on it and I want to fill it to the top with the sand so there is less of a chance of all the sand moving around. I'm going to keep it in my carry on and not let anyone touch it!

Mine didn't have a lid, but the my WP stuffed to tightly with tissue paper after the ceremony and placed it back in the box for me. I kept it in my carry on and it made it home perfectly. The sand didn't even budge. I brought my own center cylinder and had Disney provide the two smaller side ones and the sand. I don't think you will have enough sand to fill most containers to the top, so just make sure whether you have a lid or not that you bring tissue paper along just in case your WP doesn't have any with them.

How did you get your sand jar back home? Were you able to keep the sands from mixing?

I think we might have had some tissue in the top now that I think of it. I just put it in my carry on bag. Airport security didn't ask about it or shake it or anything. The sand is a little bit mixed because Rev Jack shook it a little when we were finished - the idea is that the sand mixes together like your lives and can't be separated back apart, so part is mixed and part is in layers. It looks really pretty. The lid of the jar does seal - like candle jars that have the tight sealing glass lids.

It is a little hard to see, but this can give you an idea of how full the jars are with the sand in them and how you get layers and mixing.

I'm thinking it actually might be more cost effective to go with Disney for Sand Ceremony. From my research, Ebay had higher prices (except for the plain and plainer) but either came close to or same as Disney. And if you buy it from Disney that you don't have to lug it down there. I checked other wedding sites like exclusively weddings and they run for like $50. I don't really want a full religious cermony but don't want it last only a few minutes either so I think I'm going to go for this.

Now if only I can figure out how much Disney Charges for the larger bouquet jewels so I know if I should pruchase them before hand.

DD used nested vases from Wedding Star, I think they were about $35.00 there was a center and two outside vases that "fit" together, and we had their initals engraved on them..... the MOB and MOG bring the vases up to the alter and place them at the beginning of the ceremony...it was really nice...

This set came with a foam stopper and the WP put it back together and it traveled well.

I had my phonecall from Rosie at Disney floral last week and I asked about lids for the jars, she said they didnt come with lids, but as others have said, the top could be packed with something ( I was thinking bubble wrap? )
I also asked Rosie how full the middle jar would be and she said about half full. She did say that if we wanted they could half fill the vase with plain sand BEFORE we pour our sands in, so that the vase would be full, if that made it easier to keep the sand in place. But as we will have to fly back to the uk ( and sadly won't be able to put it in my hand luggage because it's glass ) I declined as more sand will be a lot heavier than a pile of bubble wrap!!!!!!

We were going to have the sand ceremony too, but with our 3 children as well. I've heard about intimate brides having all their guests participate, as a symbol of everyone supporting the couple. I think the nesting sand bottles are so beautiful looking, but I think I'll go with what Disney provides as well, just for the sake of logistics.

Oooh, I like the idea of including the kids with this. Our Escape wedding is just us and the kids and I'd love to be able to involve them somehow.

I'm not familiar w/ a sand ceremony. Other than pouring the sand into the jar, what happens? I guess the officiant says a few words...

I guess their's no surefire way to get something that fragile home safely unless you drive down. You roll the dice w/ airport security, baggage handlers, or FedEx/UPS.
