Hi all,

My wife and I are planning a vacation in Mid-October to Orlando for the first time. After flirting with the idea of staying at the Nikki Bird Resort we have decided to treat ourselves somewhat to one of the Disney All-Star resorts. We do not want to hire a car so transportation is a big issue for us. I have two questions regarding transportation :

1. How effective are the buses from the hotel to the different parks? Are they usually on time? How often is one buss too full and you had to wait for the next one? Things like that.

2. We also want to go to Universal Studios and perhaps Islands of Adventure as an additional day. How easy is it to organize transportation from the All-Star resorts to Universal? I’m guessing the transportation isn’t free so does anyone know how much it costs?

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply.

Andrew.

Hello and Welcome to the DIS!
Disney runs buses from each resort to all the theme and water parks and Downtown Disney from early morning until late. For the theme parks I believe it's until 1-2 hours after they close, but they always make sure no one is left behind. Disney uses a demand type system so they know where there are crowds and send additional buses to those locations. You should never have to wait very long for any Disney bus.
To go outside of WDW you can either catch a cab or a towncar service or Mears shuttle has runs to other parks. I'm sure others here will give you the info you need.
Make sure you go to allearsnet.com and mousesaver.com for loads of info.

Thanks for the replies. You have given me some leads to chase up. Good to know we won't be stranded!

1.From MCO to All Stars... Take the Magical Express it's FREE!
2. Within Disney use Disney works fine.
3. mears for $14 each will run you to the other parks.
As for the Orlando Transposts posts.... maybe I am just a cynic, but I find it highly suspicious when a poster only posts on "how great" a company is..

1. How effective are the buses from the hotel to the different parks? Are they usually on time? How often is one buss too full and you had to wait for the next one? Things like that. We stayed at AS Music last June. The only crowded buses we found we at park closings. We didn't do any EMH mornings.

Stay at Sports if you can. All three AllStars share a bus and Sports is 1st on 1st off.

busses from hotel to parks are not so bad. they run on schedules and very much on time. you can pick up schedules from the front desk.
