I was wondering in anyone has used a shuttle service to Disney from John Wayne Airport and could recommend a company. Also, I've used Priceline for hotels, but not cars. Would that be the way to go? Thanks for any help! Luv these boards.

I've used Supershuttle from John Wayne to DLR hotels a number of times. I've had no complaints. Supershuttle is probably the best known shuttle in LA, but there are others that are also as good. The fare was around $11 each way + tip. If there are 4 or more in your party, it's cheaper to take a taxi. A cab should run you about $36 plus tip, and there won't be other stops.
For the shuttles, you will need reservations from DL to John Wayne, but generally not visa versa. It shouldn't hurt to make reservations since you should be under no obligation and shouldn't have to pre-pay. Usually, they don't charge your credit card until you catch the ride. Even if you make reservations, you might find another company, depending upon the timing.

I've also taken the bus. It's easy to catch, but unless you time it just right and depending upon where you are staying, it can take quite a bit longer. I don't think its worth the slightly cheaper fare.

Is John Wayne a better airport to fly into than LAX? Is one cheaper than the other, both for airfares and for transportation to DL? Also, what would be the transportation options for a family of five, six if grandma tags along, including three kids in car seats? To the OP, sorry to hijack your thread, but it seems we have someone who knows what they're talking about and I was hoping to take advantage of that. Thanks in advance

Orange is a smaller airport to fly into and is more convienent however it doesnt usually get the good deals nor has the amount of flights available, as LAX does. Orange is about 30 min away whereas LAX is 60 min away- The transportation options are fewer at Orange than LAX- but they have the basics, Airport Bus, Super Shuttle, Taxi (dont remember if there is more)

I've been able to get decent rates on rental cars using Priceline on several trips to DL. If you need help deciding whether or not to rent a car, you need to factor in how many of you are going, how long will you be staying there, and does your resort charge a parking fee.

If you are a family of four going for 3-4 nights with no intention of leaving the area surrounding the parks, I wouldn't rent a car. Check rates for SuperShuttle as well as taxis and towncar services.
