For those of you who may know. We will be staying at the Boarwalk for the marathon weekend. :cool1: We will have a car. Is it faster to catch one of the buses from the hotel or to drive over to the parking lot getting a little more sleep. :coffee: If you go by car what is the latest you can actually arive for the race?

Thanks in advance

I have no idea since I take the bus. I do know that the roads get closed or at least majorly jammed so you may consider sleeping/resting in your car.

I have taken the bus the last 2 Goofys(and will in 08). I think it is just easier mentally to ride the bus. I have heard some horror stories about people getting caught in traffic. You just sit back and relax knowing there will be no rush.

My 2 cents....

If you want a nice cool marathon take Gore's advice and take public transportation to the start. Otherwise global warming will doom us to another hot marathon!

OK Seriously, I have driven from BWV to the start. To avoid trafic issues plan on leaving before 4 am. Otherwise you face a possiblity of long waits in traffic and a possibilty of watching the race through your windshield. Both times I have diven to the start I go by the bus stop and load my car. That way I feel less guilty about not riding the bus. Note that by driving from BWV to the start you take way one of the perks for staying at the resort and that is the ability to walk back home. One other note, last year the parking lot was screwed up post race taking over an hour to get out after I finished the full.

Stayed at beach club in '07 and took the bus on Saturday and Sunday mornings....had a 'wait' on Sunday morning (20-30 minutes?) but they finally sent 2 buses to accomodate all of us. In the past we walked back to Epcot resorts through Epcot but in '07 we took the bus back....worked out nicely. If you walk back through Epcot you have to have a park pass w/ you!

We had a car available but did not want to deal w/ the traffic.

Having experienced the horror of parking at ToT, I'm taking the bus from the Swan! Being in a long line of traffic that isn't moving and watching your clock tick down is unspeakably horrible. If I'd been in that situation for the marathon, I would have been completely frazzled by the time I parked. I don't need that extra stress- put me on a bus, and if it's running late, so be it. (But then again, going crazy early and sleeping in your car doesn't sound all bad...)

Thanks for the tip about the park pass- provided I can walk, I may use my pass to head back to the hotel. Another reason to not have my car...
