I'm planning a 5 night stay at Disney Pop Century Resort and am wondering how the Disney buses work exactly. For example can you go from Animal Kingdom to Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island? Or do I have to take a shuttle back to the Pop then another shuttle to Downtown Disney? Also, plan on going to dinner at the Wilderness Lodge (Whispering Canyon Cafe) on one of the days I'll be visiting the Magic Kingdom. Can I take the shuttle from Magic Kingdom to the Wilderness Lodge and back to Magic Kingdom even though I will be staying at the Pop Century? Any help appreciated so I can try and plan my days. Thanks!

You can take a shuttle from MK to WL back to MK... you can NOT take a bus from Animal Kingdom to Downtown Disney. You'll need to go back to a resort (any resort it doesn't have to be POP!) to catch a bus to Downtown Disney (DTD). The day we did DTD from what ever park we were at we just got inline for the bus with the shortest line, or even the line where the bus was already picking people up.

ALSO if you plan on going back to your resorts after DTD you'll be able to just get right to your resort from DTD you wont have to go back to a park to get on a POP bus... you can just get on a POP bus right at DTD.

It all sounds VERY VERY confusing... I was pretty worried before we left but its all VERY simple once you see what its really like the first day you get there. Have a great time

As a Disney resort guest, you can hop on any mode of transportation anywhere in the "World" to go anywhere else in the world.

General rules, there is no resort to resort transportation, so you would need to transfer somewhere (any open them park will do).

There is no park to DTD transportation, so you will need to transfer at a resort (any resort will do).

As for your specific questions, to go to DTD from Animal Kingdom, there are no buses from parks to DTD, so the best way for first timers is to take a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge, then a bus to DTD.

(If you are good at maps, the quickest way is a bus to Saratoga Springs, then walk over to DTD)

Yes, to go to Wilderness Lodge from Magic Kingdom, take the boat to Wilderness Lodge, then you can take the boat back to Magic Kingdom.

Welcome to the DIS, Weather.

One of the biggest things to make a Disney trip pleasant, as well as 'efficient', is knowing the transportation system and how it coordinates throughout the complex.

As for Downtown D, no transportation between there and any parks, only resorts, eliminates not permitted parking at DtD.

For MK to WL, easiest is to take a water shuttle back and forth.

And for any other specifics, just ask away. Enjoy.

Wow, Thank-You SOO much for the responses. You guys are all awesome. I have never been to Disney since I was 9 and well now it's nearly 10 years later, and words can not describe how excited I am. I know I will love it so much, that I'll want to stay and work there. The community here just reinforces what I already knew about the Disney community as a whole. Thank you all again. It did not sound confusing at all. 68 Days to go!

Actually the only Resorts where this transportation between is the Contemporary, Polynesian and Grand Floridian because they are all on the Magic Kingdom Resort Monorail line.

Plus there is also a boat that you can take between the Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

With the Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan and Dolphin you can take the boats between them that go to Epcot and MGM, however I have heard it's easy to walk to them when no matter where you would start out from.
