Thanks to everyone for answering my previous posts. We have decided on VWL or AKV for the trip we are beginning to plan. Here's my question.....I stayed at AKV once and loved it. We were there Christmas week, and we never really had any kind of a wait for the bus to go anywhere. People consistently complain about the "remoteness" of the resort, but I never saw it as an issue. Now, as for VWL, I love the idea of being within a boat ride to the MK, but I got a little worried when I read about sharing the buses with the entire wilderness lodge/fort wilderness area. That makes me a bit weary. Please advise, and thanks for everyone's input.

Have stayed at both and think transportation is good at both. Honestly, unless you are spending the bulk of your time at MK, I really found the AKL bus transportation to be excellent and quick without having to make multiple stops: just Jambo and Kidani. Having stayed there I don't consider it remote at all since the bus transportation is so excellent. There have been times a few time the multiple stops have made for a long ride from WL. But, if you will spend tons of time at MK, WL is probably a better choice. Either option is great: two of my faves.

Being only a short boat-ride away from MK (red flag boat) is a priceless option. The boat service is fantastic. You also have the option of taking a boat to the Contemporary or Fort Wilderness (blue flag boat), which gives you other areas to explore and access to the Monorail.

As for sharing buses with FW, you have nothing to worry about. The buses make one stop, and in my experience, this adds maybe 5-10 minutes extra per trip? My experience is typically off-season travel, and I never found the buses overcrowded.

AKL is a beautiful resort as well, but in my opinion, the transportation options are not as good as those found at WL.

As Andrew mentioned, sharing with Fort Wilderness is not a big deal. One stop there is all. Certainly no worse than AKV "sharing" with Blizzard Beach on many routes. And VWL transportation will often share with Grand Floridian or Polynesian instead of FW...just depends on the time of year and the routing that is in effect at the time.

I think bus service at most resorts is pretty hit & miss...and is generally pretty equal across all with the possible exception of BWV. I wouldn't let the transportation options be your guide to your choice of resorts. Enjoy your planning. :)
