Anyone have a great suggestion for transportation to Vero Beach and then back to Disney 5 days later.

We will be a party of 8 we will need a large vehicle. Have checked with a service and they are looking at $475 each way.

Also we are so used to the parks at Disney and not needing a car - do we need a car while at Vero Beach?

Thanks for your help,
Becky

You could rent a minivan for $160/day (that's quoting Hertz, which is at Shades of Green on WDW property - just ask the Concierge desk staff to call a shuttle to get you there). You can drop it off the airport once you are done at VBR.

Shades of Green is just a short bit West of the Grand Floridian. (If anyone on this thread starts saying that you have to be military to even go there, I will say right now that I am definitely NOT military and I use this location for Hertz frequently.) The SoG Hertz shuttle will clear you past the entrance checkpoint to the Hertz desk inside the lobby of SoG . . . no problem.

Hertz at SoG
1950 Magnolia Palm
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830
Hours of Operation: 08:00-17:00 7 Days

Minivans vary in seating capacity between 7 to 15, and luggage capacity of up to 8-10 suitcases (luggage capacity varies by luggage size and vehicle model).

You may want a vehicle at VBR. You don't NEED one, but there are nearby places to visit and dine at that would be of interest if you're there for 5 days. If it were me, for more than 2 days there I would do a rental.

Hope that helps somewhat. You have a very large group so transportation costs aren't going to be cheap.

We rent from Priceline every year (last 4 years and always start our vacation at Vero before we head to WDW), you can get really low daily rates but make sure your plans are set in stone. We always book a week or two before we leave. you can "name your own price" and get a van in the $25 dollar a day range.

Becky, if you need any more info.. feel free to pm me :thumbsup2

A minivan only seats 7 people max, we rent them every year. Go to Mousevaers.com they have codes for car rental companies. I feel that you definitely need a car at VB. I'd love to hear what others think.

Yes, you need a car - you will want to get groceries and eat off property. I would look into two intermediates unless you can get a deal on a 8 person van. I couldn't imagine going there without my own transportation.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

We are so looking forward to our December / January vacation.

Thanks again,
Becky

We caught the ME from WDW to MCO last year on our last morning. From there we grabbed our rental and took off. It seemed much cheaper than renting from the hotels by DTD.

Good luck!

A Ford Super Clubwagon seats 12 passengers. It is classed as a minivan by the rental companies.
