Transportation to Universal

We have decided to spend 1 day at Universal Studios during our upcoming WDW vacation. There are 8 people in our party (3 kids) and we need to figure out what the best way is to get there. We don't really want to rent a car (or 2), and we aren't familar with our other options. Is renting a car thge best option? Should we take a cab? Is there a bus that is convenient? We are staying at Saratoga Springs. Has anyone else had any experience with this situation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We NEVER rent a car, and go to Universal over 3 days. it cost us $14 round trip per person last year. Go to guest services and call MEARS.

You can pre-book a transportation company and pay approximately $60.00 - $80.00 round trip for your 8 member group. Berkley Edwards has a ten passenger van and will accommodate you. He is mentioned often on the disboards and a well liked reliable driver. His telephone number is 321-624-4840. The passenger vans providing at WDW by Mears only seat 7 persons.

To Universal:

Mears/Checker Taxi from the MK area is estimated at $39.00 1w

Mears/Checker Taxi from the DTD area is estimated at 25.00 1w

Mears has Sedan Taxis and 7 pax van taxis.

Mears attraction shuttles (shared ride with other parties is a possiblity + multiple pick-ups) to Universal/Sea World run out of Disney 3 times each morning. (reservations are required). Call 407-423-5566 the night before to make arrangements. It could be an 11 passenger Van or a 55 pax bus.

The cost for the shuttle is $16.00 RT per person, children 3 and under are free.

None of the above include Driver Gratuities.

Or you can shop another car campany as well.

So look at the costs and # in your party and decide what works best for you.

Last summer we contracted with Sunray Transportation for a pickup at SSR to Universal for 7 college kids. They charged $70 roundtrip for a van. It worked perfectly - they were on time for both pickup and delivery. We would definately do this again!
