Transportation to universal studio from SSR?

Wondering if there is any free shuttle from SSR/DtD to universal studio? If so, how often do they run and how long does it take? Thanks.

Nothing free, no. Disney only provides transportation to their own attractions and to/from the airport, they won't take you to any other attractions in the area.

I know that Mears Transportation runs a shuttle. You can get from SSR to Universal in about 20-25 minutes by car, but I'm not sure if the shuttles stop at other hotels.

You can rent a car over in DTD. That is the easiest and may be the cheapest, depending on the # of people traveling.

Where can you go to rent a car in DTD? Just curious.. never seen any place to do this..

We took the Mears shuttle. Worked great for us. Registered and paid for it at the airport, spouse went to the Magic Express counter to check us in while I went to the Mears counter (next to one another) to sign us up for a roundtrip from AKL to Harry Potter Land (so my daughter calls it). We both finished our transactions at the same time. We called Mears the night before we wanted to go to Universal and they picked us up at the arranged time. We were to call them two hours before we wanted to leave Universal and once again, they picked us up right on time.

Here's a few, in the DTD area.

Alamo - Buena Vista Palace near Downtown Disney

Avis also has a desk at the Hilton near Downtown Disney

There is also a Budget desk at the Doubletree Guest Suites hotel near Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World.

Dollar also has a location in the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista near Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World

Enterprise has a location in the Royal Plaza near Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World

National - Buena Vista Palace near Downtown Disney


Personally, I like using Alamo at Dolphin, or you can get a free shuttle to the Car Care Center near the TTC parking lot. However, I've found that renting from the airport for my entire trip is often cheaper than picking up a car for a few days from one of the on property locations.

Ask on the transportation board. I think that there is an easy way to use public transportation from DTD. Cannot remember for sure though.
