Hi Everybody!
I'm new to the DCL forum, but regular on the DVC forum. I'm sure this has already been discussed but I couldn't find anything so here goes: What is the best way to get from MCO to Port Canveral. the bus option seems pricey to me. Perhaps it isn't. I just thought some DIS experst might shed some light.
Any thoughts?

YOU WOULD COME OUT CHEAPER TO RENT A CAR THAT YOU COULD TURN IN NEAR THE PORT AND MOST OF THE RENTAL COMPANIES NEAR THE PORT, WILL SHUTTLE YOU TO THE SHIP. ONE DAYS RENTAL IS A LOT LESS THAN DCL TRANSPORTATION. THE DIFFERENCE IS THE CONVENIENCE. WHEN MY WIFE AND I DID OUR FIRST DISNEY CRUISE AND FLEW IN, WE WERE MET AT OUR GATE BY A DCL PERSON WHO WALKED US TO THE BUS, AND OF COURSE OUR LUGGAGE WAS TAGGED, SO IT WENT STRAIGHT TO THE SHIP AND ALL WE CARRIED WAS OUR CARRY-ONS. IT WAS VERY SMOOTH, BUT IF YOU DON'T MIND HANDLING YOUR OWN LUGGAGE AND WANT TO SAVE MONEY, CAR RENTAL IS THE WAY TO GO, OR A LIMO IF YOU HAVE A FAIRLY LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE. I WOULD JUST CHECK ALL OF THESE OPTIONS AND THEN DECIDE WHAT WILL WORK BEST FOR YOUR SITUATION. HAVE A GREAT CRUISE!!!:sunny:

Pete,
I usually use National car rental and couldn't find anything that suggested a location at Port Canaveral. Any suggestions?
I was met with the bus in 2002 when we went. I think car rental would save money too! If I can find the right company!

Try Dave's site. www.dcltribute.com. He has a section on car rentals and the one way codes you need to make a reservation. We have used Budget and were able to get a full size car for about $50 for each one way trip.

Thanks NYGiants. I'll check into it.
Good luck in the Draft this weekend too!

I JUST GOT BACK TO THE BOARD, AND I AGREE, CHECK IT OUT. I KNOW THAT THRIFTY DOES IT. YOU CAN PICK UP AT MCO AND DROP OFF AT CAPE CANAVERAL. YOU WANT TO DEFINATELY LOOK AT THE ONE WAY CODES FOR GREAT DEALS!!:bounce:

Called tonight and can get a car ressie for about $58 one way in a mini van. Question is...will that hold six and luggage? Going on a cruise is a good problem to have. Any other suggestions I'm open! :teeth:

emacman, dcl transfer is $25 pp. you can reserve a ford excursion through happy limo for approx $115. the suv seats 7.

we are using dcl transfer from mco to dock because my husband thinks it is an intergral part of the cruise experience. post-cruise we are using happy limo to the resort and on the return trip to mco.

we have been satisfied with the cars and drivers from happy limo and since we are 5 the price is better than dcl transfers. in addition, happy limo does not stop at multiple resorts.

We went with the DCL buses from the airport and back. They are direct and don't make any other stops. Maybe the shuttles from WDW make stops, since someone mentioned them making stops.
I was on vacation from the time I got off the plane, to the time I got back on, since the DCL buses were seamless, no waiting in line to rent a car, waiting in line to turn it in, waiting in line for the rental car shuttle bus to the port, etc.
