I'm sold on the cabins and campground but I keep hearing that buses to the parks are kind of a cluster with long waits and bus tranfers. I won't be renting a car and sorry, not driving from NH so we are going to have to use the bus service.

Can someone tell me about the transportation to the parks? I hear that you can only take the boat to Magic Kingdom.

The buses do take a while, however, if you plan that time into things, there shouldn't be a problem. You will need to take the internal buses to the front of FW and then change buses to the destination you want to go to. A lot of times, for DS4's sake, we take the boat to the Contemporary and then ride the monorail. I would plan a minimum of 30 minutes for any transportation from Disney. It is not that bad.

I believe that boats and the launches are the quickest option to MK.

It's hit or miss really. We usually stay in the 1700 loop and will walk to the Outpost or Settlement rather than wait for a bus (unless we see it coming).

We were just at POP Century earlier this month and on one day the TL/DTD bus service was just awful!!! We did continually see the FtW buses arriving though.

Sorry for hijacking the OP's thread, but this is kind of related. I remember, 20 years or so ago, that there was only 1 bus route from the fort and it went to the TTC. You then grabbed another bus or the monorail to wherever you were going. Am I remembering correctly, and if I am, why did they change it and is it better or worse now, in your opinion?

You are correct there was once a blue flag bus from FW to the TTC, a yellow one to the CR,(from TTC for all these) a green to the Poly and The Golf Resort(now Shades of green), a red with white strip to what is now DTD and a red flag to the DTD hotels. This system became to cumberson for the TTC as more and more hotels were opened. It soon became impossible to manage all the bus routes this way(and in some cases transfering at the TTC made no sense) so it was decided to have each park serve as a hub(so a bus depot needed to be built at the MK).

The last time I was at FW you had to take internal buses to different locations depending on which park or destination you wanted. Don't fret about this just check the map at each bus stop. For some parks you'll head to the Outpost and for other parks you'll head to the Settlement. Just ask a friendly wdw bus driver, they'll help you.

We love taking the boat to MK. It's a nice little cruise on a very large and comfortable boat, and faily quick. We also love to rent a golf cart. We ride it to the bus stops where there are golf cart parking lots. That way we don't have to wait on the internal buses when we are going or coming. Also its great to use the golf cart for transportation anywhere inside the Fort. At night we love to cruise the loops, siteseeing. I highly recomend calling the bike barn to reserve your golf cart! It is a lot of fun.

I am at the fort now and very crowded. Anytime you can take the boat to Magic Kingdom do it. You can also get the monorail to epcot from there.
