We will be going to GKTW in late September and we will have a rental car. The trip is through MAW for our 16 yo daughter who is just entering maintenance for ALL. Normally, when we go to Disney, we stay on property and use the shuttles. This works out well since our son our 11 yo son is Autistic (highly functional) and typically wants to leave the parks early.

I am thinking that on this trip we will likely use the rental car to get to teh parks, and then one of us will take him back to GKTW using a taxi. Any other options?

one thing to remember that there are no taxis at MK you have to go to either the TTC or a resort. because GKTW is gated not sure if taxi will be allowed to your villa. I would ask when one of you goes to the parent meeting at GKTW when you arrive if something can be arranged through them.

Yep, I realize that taxi would be at TTC. I am toying with the idea of getting a second rental car (using Hertz points). But would need to find out about parking 2 cars at GKTW.

If you at the MK I think you can walk over to the contrary and get a taxi from there I think it is much faster too

Gktw has a shuttle, but I don't know how it works. I'm sure if you called they would explain

According to their website, the shuttle is for families who do not elect to get a rental vehicle. Since we are opting for a rental (through gktw), the shuttle service is not available. From my understanding (right or wrong) the shuttle pickup/drop off times are limited to 1x per day. Rental car with taxi would be more flexible for us.

I am just guessing based on what I remember of the villa driveways, second car would most likely end up parked at main building which would most likely not be close to your villa but not sure would talk to GKTW about 2 cars. parking pass for Disney is only for one car so be prepared to pay to park second car at Disney

. . . TrustTheScupper, no problem with a taxi going to your villa villa at GKTW (pickup or return).

. . . some drives are wide enough, based upon the vehicle,
. . . most drives will not hold two vehicles side-by-side,
. . . don't remember a single drive that holds two cars end-to-end

never used taxi when we were there, just remember the gate coming into grounds. been on 2 trips with 2 grandsons where I was the driver. what you said about drives is what I remember. as usual thanks for the help. wont make it to GKTW this trip but heading down next week with the rest of grandkids

Download a rideshare app, or even 2. Check the rates, at least one will probably be cheaper than a taxi.

I would plan on taxi or uber. But you might be surprised how much better your son does because of the wish kid perks. Also, once my 11 year old, who I suspect is on the sectrum, had a barely healed broken foot and by the third day, we had to rent a wheelchair for him. Oh my goodness. It made the rest of trip for everyone heavenly! No more touching everything, invading personal space because he was trying walk a pattern etc. . . He was noticeably less stressed in the chair. The first time he wants to leave early, you might try that as a way to keep him going. If it works, you should probably rent one from somewhere other than Disney for the rest of your stay. You could also take the car back to the villa and then go back later and get the others when they are ready to leave.

We have already heard the *I think I am too old for Disney... and I don't want to go*. I offered to have his grandfather come down from Michigan and stay with him (his answer was OK). The trip is his older sister's wish - he would have had a totally different wish (probably a YoKai Watch). However, he is excited for sea world.
