There is no direct transportation from any of the parks to DTD. You need to go to your resort (or a resort) and get the transportation (bus or boat) from there.

From DHS the most convenient resort is probably Pop Century.

You can also walk to any of the Boardwalk area hotels from either DHS or Epcot.

No...I think that from DHS or Epcot, the easiest would be to walk to one of the Epcot area resorts (or take the boat)...S/D, Yacht/Beach or Boardwalk, and then get on a bus to DTD.

OR...take a bus from the park to SSR and walk/bus to DTD from there.

I didn't give an opinion about Epcot, just DHS.

I agree that walking to an Epcot resort would be a good option.

From DHS the walk to the Epcot resorts is not all that short in my opinion, but it is doable. The boat would be faster but you do have to wait for it. And then you need to get to the bus area at your chosen resort. If you're in a hurry this may not be the best choice, but if you want to explore the pathways (walk or boat) from DHS are lot of fun.

With SSR, unless you already know the property and where best to get off the bus, my opinion is it might not be the best choice. Here's why...

Last year I tried going from AK to SSR to get to DTD because I knew SSR was close. But once I got to SSR I got off at the first bus stop, realized I really didn't know how to navigate to the DTD walking path, and waited a good 20-30 minutes more for the DTD bus.

Maybe it was just me, but I wished I had taken the AK bus to the AKL and gotten the direct DTD bus from there. I hopped on the SSR bus because it showed up first and I knew it was close to DTD.

As the PPs have said, there is no direct bus service between DTD and any of the theme parks. The fastest option (but not the cheapest) is to take a taxi. It'll probably cost about $15 (plus tip).

When using Disney transportation, there are several options.

From Epcot, it depends on where you are. If you're in World Showcase, then you can exit via International Gateway (IG) and walk to either the Boardwalk or Beach Club and catch a bus from there. From IG to the Beach Club bus stop is approximately 0.40 miles and from the IG to the Boardwalk bus stop is approximately 0.47 miles.

From the front of Epcot, you can either take a bus to another resort and then transfer to another bus (or boat) to get to DTD. The taxi stand is with the buses.

From DHS, you can either take the bus to another resort and then transfer to another bus (or boat, is applicable) to get to DTD. I don't know where the DHS taxi stand is, but I'd guess it's also near the buses.

You can walk from DHS to one of the Epcot area resorts if you'd like. The walk is approximately 0.9 miles.

You can go from Epcot to DHS via boat. The stops are IG, BW, BC/YC, S/D, and then DHS. The entire ride takes about 35 minutes. If you're at IG and take the boat, get off at BW (first stop). If you're at DHS, you can either get off at S/D and walk to BW or wait until the next stop and get off at YC/BC.

I seldom recommend heading to SSR from a park in order to get to DTD. That resort is huge and it can be confusing to get around. And then, you still have the walk over to DTD.
If I were at either DHS or Epcot, I would head to an Epcot resort. If at Epcot, I would walk over to BC and take the bus from there. The walk is about 8 mins from the International Gateway.
If at DHS, I would walk to BW...takes less than 20 mins. The boat takes about the same time, once you are on the boat and it leaves the dock. The wait time for the boat to come can be up to 15/20 mins.

If going to Pop, you have to walk to the bus stop (at DHS), then wait for the bus, then ride to Pop, then wait for the DTD bus to come. If there are no waits involved, then sure, it's quicker. But, no waits seldom happens. So, you have the walk to the stop, about 5 mins, then a possible wait of 15/20 mins for the bus to come, then a 10 min ride to Pop, then a possible 15/20 mins wait for the DTD bus to come and the subsequent ride.

Now, if you're not in a hurry, I would head to POR, and take the boat to DTD from there. Very nice way to go, if you aren't in a rush.

If we have our car there will that be easier?

Way easier.

I've spent 45 minutes from a resort to get to DTD only to catch a ride back and it take a little over 5 minutes.

DTD is one of the worst places to get to and from by bus.

Some of this answer depends on when you are planning to go to DTD. Generally, I would say that driving yourself is the easiest option (it is what I do). The only problem can be parking; evenings are harder than during the day. If you don't mind a little walking, then I would avoid the lots nearest to the Marketplace. Those always seem busier to me.

i was planning on hitting the lego store on the day that we do HS. We plan on getting to the park for rope drop but want to stay for fantasmic. The only thing we are interested in at DTD is the lego store so i thought a park break to there would be good then back for fantasmic.

It looks like you have a car so at least for that day, drive to DHS and park so you can drive back and forth from DTD it will save you a ton of time.

:scared1:Getting to a DTD from a park using Disney transportation is very time consuming. I would not consider it a "break" in any way! We are WDW vets, have been too many times to count....I would definitely drive my own car, but still do not think it would be a break. We once took a bus from AK to AK lodge to have dinner at DTD. It took 4 hours! Only a little over an hour was dinner, the rest was all transportation time. Remember, depending on what time of day, your resort bus may stop at Typhoon Lagoon before heading on to DTD. We always go to DTD on the day we do Animal kingdom since it usually closes early.
