Transportation tips if staying at Saratoga Springs

I might try that. It's just a mom's trip so no kids!
Last "mom's trip" I saw at the hole in the wall was in it for the duration. four mom's from Australia! Them trips look fun, but I am a 57 year old dad so I never get invited. What ever happened to inclusion! pirate:

I'm here now and I will never stay at SSR again without a car. I don't mind the bus usually, but every time I've used the bus at SSR it's taken 40-60 minutes with all the extra stops here and getting around the resort...spending several hours a day crammed in a bus is not my ideal way to spend vacation time. I like the resort, but you definitely need a car here.

lol, I mean, I am very much looking forward to a testostorone free trip. #momofboys I'm not sure if I'm more excited about no males or the destination

Rent a car.. you'll be kicking yourself day 1 waiting for those buses.

This Summer during WDWs biggest crowd period of the year thus far, the bus wait times were horrid. It's probably due to staffing shortages and I doubt they've gotten back up to speed just yet.

Such a superior and pleasant experience having your own transport. Consider making an exception if you plan to stay for fireworks at MK.. but that's it.

One other thing to keep in mind right now is that the trams at the parks are not running. So, if you were to drive your own car/rented car, you would have the additional walk from your car to the park. With the parks getting busier and busier, this could become a bigger factor. Especially for MK. I've heard lots of grumbling about the walk from the MK parking lot.

I would, personally, stick with the busses. As others have mentioned, they are not any better or worse than anywhere else. Sometimes you get lucky and the busses arrive right after you do. Other times you have to wait 20 minutes for the next bus. We've had both experiences at SSR.

One thing we do consistently do at SSR though is stay in the Preferred section and request Congress Park. We like to walk over to DS and I also like the views from these rooms at night when DS is all lit up and the lights are reflecting off the water.

SSR still has issues with non resort guests walking over there to use the buses. last time we stayed there we saw several families do this every single day.

I don't think Disney has made any effort to discourage this. In fact, not having the parks to DS buses after 4 PM has probably encouraged it.

It's one of the reasons we stopped staying at our home resort. We love the proximity to the Springs but it was just taking far too long to get to the parks. One day we watched around 20 people wander over from Springs and rush past us to get in the line for the bus ahead of us.

Get on at the Springs stop and get off at the Grandstand stop. No driving around the resort in a bus. 60 minutes seems excessive, sounds like scooters getting on and off. Takes about an hour to monorail over from VGF to Epcot and the monorails smell like dirty diapers.

When you go to the MK with a car you’ll be kicking yourself watching all the buses drive by as you walk across the parking lot, then wait for the monorail or ferry boat. Save 10 minutes waiting for bus and spend 40 minutes walking, waiting and riding. The other parks I agree with you. One time we had a late dinner reservation at the Wave. Drove to MK went to park, I went back to get vehicle while others took monorail over to CR. That was a long trip from the parking lot and back.

Read the last sentence of my post again.

Spend the $20 and get preferred parking. You'll end up with a 5 minute walk from the TTC.

We now always rent a car. With free parking everywhere, it's just too much of s luxury. I use free days earned during the year with business travel, so it works out well for us. Ironically, it was a cash stay at Coronado Springs that did it for us. That's another killer wait for busses as they loop that resort too.

I've always had a car because we always drive from home to WDW. However, we almost always use the bus when we stay at SSR. IMO the wait is not so bad, not worth renting a car just to save a little time.
I agree with you. The busses are not so bad. Its even better if you use the busses during the slower times going and coming from the parks.

You can walk from the Hilton Orlando Palace to DS across that pedestrian bridge, then you can walk to SSR. Congress Park Bus Stop would be the closest. It would be a pretty long walk, I've never walked from that hotel but my guess would be about 20-30 minutes.
Yes easy 5 mile walk, I forget the name of the village but it is the one closes to the springs… however crossing the road is kinda like playing frogger at times….
