Well I booked my airfare this morning and now I am set to book my Universal trip itself. We are planning an offsite hotel and after talking to a Universal staff member I was told that we would need to find a way to get to Universal for early arrival as the shuttle does not start that early. Has anyone done off-site and how did you get to Universal for early entry? We will be about 2 miles away from the parks. Is a cab costly? And what about the I-ride trolley?
Any help would be appreciated!!!

Cabs tend to be expensive but it sounds like your best bet particularly since you're only two miles away. If you only need it for one day, it's wouldn't be so bad.

We only took a cab once and that was from Universal to WDW. That was expensive but that's quite a long way.

Which hotel did you booked?

I just came back from our 1st trip at US and stayed @ Holiday Inn and suite at the entrance of US (it's right beside the Double Tree). It took us about 10 walk to get to the park, an easy walk. They had shuttle but we didn't use them, just seemed easier to walk.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I would post here:

How do I get from RPR to Disney Hollywood Studios/Magic Kingdom? I am staying at RPR for 7 days, but even for a big IOA geek like me, I think 7 days is a little too much to stay within the resort all week, so a trip to my 3 favourite Disney parks will take up a day each.

You can find some answers here:

But if you're looking to go to a specific park at Disney, you will probably either have to take a cab or rent a car. Most shuttles will take you to the TTC or one of the resorts...not specific parks.

Since I just booked the Double Tree I think we should be able to walk too!
Was it a fairly easy walk? Was there a lot of traffic to cross?

Yes it's an easy walk but Kirkman Road is a VERY busy street at all hours so be VERY careful. Orlando drivers are pretty aggressive so again...be careful crossing.
