Hello Everyone!! I have a question about transportation around Disney World. We have always rented a car, BUT I want to look at other options (van for 10+ days is way expensive)

Facts: Staying at SSR, Party of 11, staying for 10+ days.

What is transportation like from SSR? How often will it run? How long will it take to get to most parks? How early does it start in the AM? How late does it run? If we decided that we want to rent a cab to get someplace faster, what are the rates like?

Thanks in advance.

Well, we won't know for sure until it starts running but assume it will be similar to OKW and the other WDW resorts. It will be bus transportation to all parks (except boat to DD). Buses run more frequently in the morning and evening than they do midday. Wait time for a bus could be 15-20 minutes if you "just miss" the previous bus. But, it will probably closer to 5-10 minutes most times you reach the bus stop. Once the bus is on the way to the parks it should be roughly 10-15 minutes for Epcot & MGM; 15-20 minutes for MK (you'll be dropped right at the entrance area, no need to take monorail or ferry); and roughly 30 minutes to AK. The AK bus will probably also stop at BB.

I think the buses start running about an hour before park opening and usually run 1-2 hours after a park closes (the driver will make an announcement).

Disney transportation becomes a problem if you want to go resort-to-resort. It requires that you change buses either at a park or at DD. SSR may not be as bad because you can catch a bus to any resort from DD. You should allow about 1 1/2 hours to go resort-to-resort.

Maybe folks can share their cab cost experience.

we have 13 in October for an intimate wedding and have decided on a 15seater van.
Believe me no matter what everyone will want to do different things.
No one knows until next week what transportation will be like but given the final resort size it will be like OKW with good transport but never as good as your own transport.
With your numbers I would reckon on $10-$20 for your group to the parks.
