We are flying out of SNA on a Wednesday at 4:40pm. I dont like how early the supershuttle wants to pick us up. If I left the parks at 3pm and took a cab to the airport, I should be perfectly fine, right?

Personally, I would leave closer to 2:00-2:30 pm to be safe. I'd rather have to wait at the airport than be late and miss the flight. If there is no traffic, then you'd probably be okay leaving at 3:00 pm, but there almost always seems to be traffic to me. I've flow out of SNA a few times and security can be variable. Sometimes it's very fast, other times it's slow.

As mentioned by the PP, do not forget about the infamous LA traffic. At 3pm on a weekday, I'd expect the trip to be a slow-go.
