Working on some final details and trying to decide between a rental car and a towncar service for our family of four. For those who've rented a car . . .

How difficult was it returning the car at Port Canaveral?
Was it difficult to find where to go?
Are the rental companies right by the ship or do they shuttle you over to the ship?
How did it go after disembarking? Do you call the rental company to come get you?

DH is leaning toward a towncar service to make life much simpler but it seems to be about a $100 price difference so just wondering if it's worth it to rent a car . . . just not sure if it's much more complicated or not? :confused3
Thanks!

It is easy. There are a number of rental car facilities within 3 miles.

No, they are all on the main drag.

They shuttle you. Suggestion - have DH drop you, family, and luggage at the ship with his passport. You go and check in. He returns the car and takes a shuttle back. Since he still has his driver's license, he will be able to get into the terminal, and you will be checked in. Very efficient.

Disney has queues set up outside for the various rental companies. Wait in line and get on the shuttle. The last few times we have had just one person go get the car, and the family wait with the luggage. Less hassle, and more people can get on the shuttle.

Thank you so much! Love the suggestion to drop family off and have one person take/pick up car! Glad to hear it is an easy process! Thanks again!

Will you be needing the rental car after the cruise? We just came back (before the hurricane) and were at BWV then we did the 3-night cruise and then went to AKL. I just parked the car at the port. It was $45 for the 3-night cruise.

We looked into returning the car at the port, but then we needed the car again when we got off and the 3-night rental was not that cheap.

Enjoy your trip.
