Everyone on here is such a help and always provides different ways at looking at things so I was wondering, did anyone not provide transportation for guest to the ceremony/reception? The majority of my guests will be driving to Orlando, so they already have a vehicle and those that fly will probably rent a car or use Disney transportation to get around. I'm trying to cut costs and didn't know if this feasible. I'd like all opinions please....

Oh this is a great question! I've been wondering about this too! Thanks for posting it!

I didn't. The bridal party was in the Beach Club, so walking to SBP was easy. The grooms family drove and stayed off-site, while most of my guests ended up staying in the Beach Club by choice. Unless you have a massive number of people who don't have vehicles and are staying at resorts that would be hard to get to your ceremony from I wouldn't bother. Or if you have a ceremony that's far away from the reception it might be a good idea. Ours was a ten minute walk back to the Beach Club.

Were doing something similar, most of of the guests are staying with us at the Swan and Dolphin (it was waaaaay cheaper than the disney hotels on the boardwalk :rotfl:) and were getting married at the Yacht Club Gazebo, so they can just walk over.

Anyone that is staying offsite will get picked up in the complimentary limo that comes with the escape package.

I don't think you need to. If you had an at home wedding, most wedding that I've been to at least don't provide transportation from the ceremony to reception, and it's not like Disney doesn't already have free transportation! Its def a good way to cut costs :thumbsup2

I had a tough time trying to figure out the best option for this as well. I would definately suggest to some people to get transportation, but would argue no transportation for other people.

The way that it worked out for me was that most people are staying at various places off Disney property, and with free parking at the resort, there really is no reason why I would pay for extra transportation and work out an enourmous hassle of how to pick everyone up.

However, if I were having a more "grand" affair with groomsmen and bridesmaids and various other people and events, I would probably pay for transportation. Or, if I had made everyone stay at a Disney resort (for wishes wedding) then I would buy them transportatin. The reason is this.. if I had a bridesmaid who had to throw me a bridal shower/wedding shower/bachlorette party and buy bridesmaid's dress and do various other things.. you bet that I would make sure I'd do everything I could to make their time as easy and classy for them as it would be for me. I wouldn't make these people do all that for me and DF and then tell them to call a taxi the day of.

Where is your ceremony? Where is the reception? How many people do you think will not have a car, and where are they staying?

I am right there with everyone who thinks that hiring transportation is a ridiculous expense, but if you are having a ceremony and/or reception inside a theme park you will be required to do it. And those of your guests who are relying exclusively on Disney's buses will have to transfer buses to get from their resort to any resort where you're having an event, which can be a huge hassle and could make them late for your event.

For example, if you are having your wedding at the Wedding Pavilion and reception at the Grand Floridian, your guests who are not staying at a monorail hotel will have to take a bus from their resort to a theme park and transfer to a Grand Floridian bus/the monorail (if they go to MK).

If your ceremony's at the Wedding Pavilion but the reception is at, say, the Beach Club, they will have to get transportation to the Magic Kingdom and then transfer to a bus to the Beach Club while all your other guests just drive there.

Just something to think about. :thumbsup2

Our daughter is being married on the beach by the wedding pavilion with reception at Ariels [beach club] so we have booked transport for guests who are staying at OKW BC and PO to get to GF.and then to ariels However we asked and are allowed to walk to epcot for the dessert party saving us over $500 for a bus which is entirely not required

Thanks everyone! You have all given me things to think about. My ceremony is going to be at the WP and reception at GF. Most of the guests that will be driving in will be staying at the resorts, so they will have a car and guests that will be flying in are planning to stay off site at some time share, so they will be renting a car......so I think I am leaning on not providing transportation.... we will see... Ill keep you posted!! Thanks again everyone who responded!!

Thanks for posting this. I know I need to look into this but hate the thought of the cost. We are getting married at SBP with lunch at the Napa room (later that night a dessert party at EPCOT). The closer and closer I get to the date the more to think about ....... or should I say more things to spend money on .......

We are only providing transportation from our ceremony to our reception...mostly because we have to. Our guests will get themselves to both our DP and our ceremony. Transportation will either bring them back to their car or their hotel after the reception.

You need to consider where all of your guests are staying. If you're having a wedding at SBP and reception in that area and everyone is staying at one of the Epcot resorts you don't really need transportation. Or if WP / GF and everyone is staying at a monorail resort you wouldn't really need it. But if you have people staying at other resorts that would be relying on Disney transportation, you may want to consider getting a bus.

We will be providing it, because while it's not really a "fun" expense, it will add a lot to our guests comfort. I know how frustrated I get trying to get back to my resort at park closing. I would not want my guests, all dressed up, after our wedding to wait an hour or more to get back to their room. I feel like that would leave them with a bad impression while they probably don't really care if I have upgraded linens or bigger centerpieces, etc. Our wedding is also in August, so it will probably be really hot and could even rain, so I don't want them to have to walk from the ceremony to the reception even though it is not that far.
