Ok we always drive so I have no idea how to help the inlaws who are flying into Sanford. I know its about an hour away and they don't want to rent a car so what are their options?

We are flying into Sanford for the 1st time this trip too. I would love to hear the answers to your question too....

We have flown into Sanford twice in the past year. The March trip was actually booked first and we booked a town car service. We took a last minute, weekend trip in December on which we rented a car. The car rental was part of our hotel package.

The drive was about 50 miles, right at one hour. We took the toll road (about $6-7 each way) all the way around. Most locals avoid the toll road, but it worked perfect for first time drivers needing to get all the way across/ around town. There was little to no traffic and the Disney exits are clearly marked.

On our March trip, we had the town car waiting for us. That was great. The service was very good and we didn't have to worry about driving or the rental car. The town car service we used no longer services Sanford. They and several others have dropped the route because they weren't doing enough business there to justify increased fees from the city of Sanford and the airport. I have not researched it recently, but as of March here are the rates I had.

FL Tours (sponsor of this forum) was $229, but I don't see Sanford as on option on their site anymore.

Other town car services were $200-240
Shuttle bus, 10-person private van, and limos were other options that were more expensive.

You can go to the Sanford Airport web site for a list of companies that service the airport.

Your only options are a taxi or a town car service. A taxi will cost about $110 plus tip one way, so about $240 round trip. A town car will be around $240 round trip.

Want to go get your inlaws?

Do not use Sanford Transportation, a number of bad reports (late or missed pickups) about them have appeared on this forum over the months. What's worse is that they had refused to make good after the problem was brought to their attention.

There are no 'shuttles' from Sanford Intl to WDW. So...you are going to have to suggest either renting a car or getting a car service. The car service is going to run in the area of about $200+ roundtrip. It is about double the cost of getting to WDW from MCO.
We arrive into Sanford in April and will be renting a car. The drive to WDW is pretty easy from what I understand.

Mears will also get you from Sanford to WDW...
But not as a 'shuttle'...unless I'm missing something. They do run car service there...about $120 each way.

Yup! And they had a HUGE advertisement inside the airport. Rotten people who refuse to issue a refund to many.
