Transportation morning of the half marathon

I just switched my reservation from Poly for Marathon weekend and then to WL to all WL 1/2 through 1/11. What is bus service like from resorts to the race starts? is it an absolute zoo or do they handle it pretty well?

I am staying at WL also. Maybe we can meet for the bus! This is my first time, so I am not sure how the transportation will be. All I know is that there are buses.

The bus service is very very do-able.

Yes, the bus is typically full, but they have backups in case several people do not mention it when registering at the front desk.

(At the front desk at check in, they will typically ask if you are participating in the half or marathon, but your 1/2 check in date is ahead of most of the marathon crowds, so you may need to volunteer the information).

They keep a ballpark of how many of their guests will need bus transport. The buses arrive *FREAKING EARLY* at 3:00 - 3:30am, and you need to be on it.

Some people at epcot resorts or Downtown Disney resorts walk to the starting line to get some extra sleep.

When you arrive at the bus, you should have your race number strapped to your chest and some warm clothes. (there is a bag check area to drop off your stuff just prior to race time.)

I camped at Fort Wilderness last year for the full. Internal buses took me to WL where I caught the "Tour Bus" to EPCOT. I got on a bus that was nearly full, but there was already another empty bus waiting.

Just don't wait until the last minute get to the buses.

Hello!

I'm staying off site in Comfort Inn Universal studios. What do you think would be the easiest way for me to get to Epcot center at 4:00 am. I'm running the half marathon.

You need to get a rental car or cab/taxi to the starting area. Only Disney resorts provide transportation to the race areas.
