Transportation Help - Epcot -> Kona -> MK with maybe break?

We will have a rental car. I can't stand waiting for the buses in the morning and being on a packed bus in the evening!

We have plans to be at Epcot early in the day and then potentially go back to the resort (POR) before having dinner at Kona and then heading to MK for HEA.

Let's say we break during the day and go back to POR - I assume the best plan would be to drive to TTC and then monorail to Poly and MK, then back to the car to leave.

But... if we don't break. Could we leave the car at Epcot, then monorail to Kona and then MK... and then back to Epcot to get the car? Epcot hours are 9AM -10PM. MK hours are 8AM - 12AM. I assume we won't stay much longer than the fireworks (9PM).

Or would you do anything different? Open to suggestions...

just a helpful tip, you don't have to monorail from the TTC to Polynesian, you can definitely walk if you want

But, if you are headed to the Kona, take the monorail.
The monorail will let you out on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House, just about 50 steps from the Kona.
