During our upcoming trip to WDW, we are planning a 1 day trip to Cape Canaveral for a visit to Kennedy Space Center. We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge (2 adults/2 kids). I am guessing that renting a car is the most cost effective means of transportation. Here are my questions:

-What is the easiest way to get a rental car from the Wilderness Lodge? Any suggested agencies?

-How long should we allow for travel time? According to Google, it is about 60 miles and should take about 1 hour 15 minutes. Is this realistic?

-Should we consider another transportation mode beyond rental car for this day trip?

Thanks

I would rent a car from Alamo. They have a location at the car care center which is close to the WL. Alamo has a shuttle van that will come and get you. You can call the car care center a few days before your rental begins and arrange this.

Yes it does take about 1 hour 1/2 to get to the coast.

I would suggest renting a car either on Fri, Sat, or Sun you will get a better rate because you will be renting on the weekend.

Copy and paste this into the location section on the alamo site. This is the car care center location

Orlando- Walt Disney Car Care Cntr. (ORLR72)

Thanks for your suggestion. I made a reservation with Alamo as recommended. It was $54 including taxes for a full size and a coupon for a free upgrade. No way a shuttle or taxi service would be cheaper.
