What are the options for getting to WDW from the Orlando Airport?

Magic Express, something called Mears and what?

We are not arriving until 6:30pm, so I really don't want to take forever getting to the park? KWIM???

TIA!

We love Magical Express. Get off the plane with hand luggage, go straight to the counter, stand in the line for a little while, then right to WDW on a really confortable bus. We love not having to wait for the bags and we usually arrive sooner than when we have a rental car. And it's free!

We have flown a few times in the past and we rely on a car service for getting to WDW. Even though ME is free, its not the reason we go to WDW or fly into MCO. We prefer the car service for the convenience of personally being greeted, bags going with us and arriving at the resort the same minute we do and the 30 minute grocery stop is ideal, we pick what we want and get all our supplies and drinks and not have to deal with delivery services or delivery fees and being at the resort when they come. We do not have to wait at the airport for anything or anyone, we're greeted, bags loaded and off, store enroute and at the check in of the resort is fine fashion and the return is the same, in our book its worth the car service fee for personalized care. We have done Mears bus once long ago, doable, not cheap, no personalized service, more like getting on a school bus but it got us to where we were going and knew the cost up front, not like the cabs in Orlando, never the same cost, same route you're at the whim of the driver. We'll stick to our car service.

I love Magical Express and it was fast and perfect..picked me you, dropped me off for checkin at the resort and then delivered my luggage to the room....all I can say it WOW....

Disney's Magical Express is free for anyone named on a resort reservation at a WDW owned-and-operated resort.

It is motorcoach transportation ... a plush bus that shows a Disney DVD as you travel. In addition, you are sent special luggage tags in advance. You put these on each checked bag. At your home airport, you check your bags with your airline like normal. Then the cool thing is, the next time you see them they will be INSIDE your resort room (whether you are in there or not -- you don't have to sit around waiting for them). You get to totally skip baggage claim.

DME is a shared ride. Your bus will have guests from up to 4 resorts.

No matter how you get to your WDW resort (DME, car service, rental car, taxi), it will take about the same amount of time. With DME, the time it takes to board the bus and possibly stop at other resorts is made up by the fact that you don't have to wait for your luggage at baggage claim.

Different strokes for different folks. If you want private transportation and personalized service and are willing to pay $120 or more for it, then a car service is for you. If you like the idea of being able to drive around during your stay, then a rental car is for you. But if you like the idea of FREE but still efficient transportation to your resort, then give DME a try. I've used it twice and can't wait to use it again!

WHAT car service do you recommend??

I would like that information as well. We have used ME several times and it is very nice but the first time our luggage didn't arrive until the next day. (It was left at the airport accidently. By the time they found it the airport had locked it up for safe keeping. It was noon the next day before we got it. No hair brush, make up, pj's. Not a happy camper. But they did do a great job of keeping us informed.) From then on we got our luggage and carried it to the bus. We always seem to be the last resort so we are considering a service just to save some time. I'd say on our ME experiences from the time we landed until we got to the resort was at least 1.5 hours maybe even 2.

Magical Express is great but we have also used FL Tours. They were excellent. They were at the airport waiting for us when we arrived, handled all of our luggage, and picked us up at the resort to return to the airport. We even changed flights to an earlier one about a day or two before and they accomodated us. They were excellent.

ME subcontracts out to Mears. I do believe that you can still book with Mears if you would prefer, I think it's something like 30 bucks each way. However, there is no need to do so, as ME is free, and provides more service actually since they will get your luggage for you.
Other than that, there are a bunch of car services, most run $100 and up I believe. The benefit to the car service would be that most do a shopping stop for you if you need to get groceries or something. Or of course you could do a rental.
The drive for any of them will be about the same. The ME should only take longer if you happen to be the last hotel on the bus. In my experience the pickup/wait time for ME is about what it would take to get a rental. And as long as you pack a change of clothes in case your luggage doesn't get there til the following morning, it shouldn't be a problem. And you don't need to wait 15-30 mins for your luggage. Mears/Car Service/Rental would all add that time to your evening.

Due to posting restrictions and bans, I'm not allow to post whom we use but there are quite a few companies out there that others like and posting is alright for them. Sorry.

OH, I never knew that, live and learn!.
We used to get a Towncar but after ME, we just use that. So far we have had all but 1 good experience thru them. I think ME does not work well for very late flights coming in as my family waited over 2 hours, crazy with young kids in tow! Sometimes those lines are so long during the morning rush as well and if you're UNLUCKY to be last drop off, UGH! Well, beggars can't be choosers I guess. I guess this was ONE of the "savings" I have chosen for this upcoming trip, LOL!

Enjoy your day and THANKS for responding!
