Has anyone taken a cab from the airport to their hotel, or is it best to get on one of those transit system deals that takes everyone to their hotels? If I get a cab, does anyone know what the approximate price would be to a resort inside disney?

We use Magical Express. Does not cost a penny.

We originally signed up for Magical Express (because of the FREE factor) but ended up deciding to rent a town car instead.

Here was my thought process . . . I did a lot of research about ME on these boards and read enough bad experiences with slow trip times (long waits at the airport, lots of stops, etc.) and lost or delayed luggage to sell me on NOT taking ME. Now, I know that there could be TONS of responses about how great ME is, but we are getting into Orlando at 11:15am, so we actually have an opportunity to get into the parks that afternoon if we get to Disney FAST, so I considered quick transportation to be a "must."

Next I looked at cabs. (roughly $40 each way, if I remember correctly, BTW - check out the website for Mears cabs - it has a fare calculator). My concern with cabs is that I have a 3 1/2 year old. Under FL law, I think 4 and under must be in car seats. I didn't want to lug a car seat all the way to Orlando just for the ride to and from the airport, so that ruled out cabs.

That brought me to renting a town car, since some of the companies offer free car seats. I ended up reserving through Florida Tours (fltours.com) - a sponsor of this board. I'm paying about $130 round trip, which includes a car seat and a 30-minute stop at the grocery store (which we're actually skipping, even though it would be great to pick up snacks, because we want to get to the parks!!) Oh, I should mention that as silly as it sounds since there's only 3 of us, I actually had to rent a "luxury van" rather than a Town Car - through Florida Tours, you could only get a booster seat in a Town Car (I called to ask why - it's because they don't have room to store the car seat in the trunk if they have another customer after us). The price difference wasn't that much between the two.

So, we're spending $130 that we don't have to, but if it means another hour (or maybe more) in the parks, it's worth every penny to me! HTH!

I would just take Magical express...we have taken it about 6 times and have never had one problem. Sure it may take a while to get your luggage, but the plus side is that you don't have to deal with it yourself..lol Or you can always go and get your luggage yourself and take ME.

We did LOTS of research on it..HERE and asked around, and EVERYONE said ME sometimes takes FOREVER to reach your hotel..you could be driving around dropping people off for up to 1.5 hours! NO THANKS!!!

So we opted to rent a towncar..we went with Tiffany's. It's $95 ROUND TRIP, that includes a STOP at a food store, AND a car seat for our daughter! AND they try and get you the same driver for both directions! We didn't think that was a bad idea considering WDW is approx 20 minutes or more from the airport, and you get a food store stop, AND now we don't have to lug a carseat around! AND we get our own car!!!!! ;0)

OH and if we decide to do BAGS (which is where the airlines comes and gets your luggage on departure day and takes it ahead to the airport), and you get your boarding passes printed up at your hotel, All we have to do is call Tiffany's and say, we are leaving our resort until we leave WDW, can you pick us up at DTD, or MK, or WHEREVER instead of CBR..and he'll get us there! ;0)

Good Luck!

We use fltours too and have been nothing but pleased with them. For me at least, I REALLY enjoy having a nice relaxing ride to the resorts after having dealt with airplane travel all day. THe last thing I want to do after a nearly cross country airplane trip is get on a bus with a bunch of other loud people. Since my daughter was born, we get the van and they even play Disney movies for her to watch on the way. We stop at Publix on the way for water, milk, etc. and we're there in no time. Oh, and fltours drivers have always been incredibly helpful assisting us with our luggage at baggage claim and unloading for us at the resort. I highly recommend them.
