transportation from SNA to Disneyland?

Instead of our usual annual trip to WDW, this time we are going to Disneyland, for the first time. We have plane reservations to fly into John Wayne Airport (SNA), arriving at 5 pm on a Wed. in about a month. There will be four of us. What is the best way to get to the Disneyland Hotel? A taxi? I figure that for four of us that would cost about the same (or less?) as the shuttle transportation, but get us directly to our destination. Is there a town car service like there is in Orlando? Cost? We don't want to rent a car - much prefer to be driven around, and figure we won't need a car once we're at DLH.

From SNA to DLR you can get a flat rate on a taxi, just chat with the drivers about it before getting into the cab.

On the way back, I've heard it's generally based on mileage, rather than on a flat rate, however.

Supershuttle is pretty inexpensive from and to SNA, but if you can get a cab for about the same, that might be nicer.

SNA is REALLY close, FYI.

The last time I did supershuttle was in January and at the time, they told
us $10 per head. Which isn't too bad at all, although, the prices keep rising
on gas so who knows if they adjusted to pay for gas.

We found it convenient on our last trip to just grab a cab at the airport rather than have a reservation with some one waiting on us. The only time I tried getting a shuttle did not work for us because our train was late and then I could not find them and they could not find me. It was such a hassle. We ended up taking a cab.

We did have a town car on the way back to the airport because that's what DI called for us when we asked for them to call us a cab. I did enjoy that ride much more compared to the worn out cab. We will probably use them again. Our driver was great. His name was Sunday and he was with A Plus Limo. Seems like the fare was about $50 which was very close to the cab fare.

This year's trip from the airport in November we have another family coming with us so there will be 7 of us. I don't think that will work in one cab so I have ressies for a limo from U-R-THERE Limousine Service. I thought I would surprise the teens. I'm rather excited too since I have never ridden in a limo. They gave me a qoute of $129 which is close to what we would have paid for 2 cabs, plus they gave me a free upgrade from a 6 passenger to a 10 passenger. I'll have to report back on how it goes!

Oooh, I didn't think about gas prices. Fares may be even more this year for a cab!

I'd look into super shuttle, so you can pre-pay for it and have one less thing to worry about.

If I can prepay for anything I'd prepay for everything.
i'm always looking for one less thing to have to worry about.

my WDW trip everything is prepaid lol
even down to my LAX parking lol (well I work @ LAX so I don't have to pay for parking )

Flat rate on a taxi runs about $35-40 which with four people is cheaper than most shuttles. The other advantage to the taxi is that it takes you RIGHT to your hotel--no waiting for more passengers or having to drop other people somewhere else.

We did the Disneyland Express SHuttle which you can book in advance but for those of you who do the taxi how can you guarantee the flat rate and do you also have to tip them? And can you get that flat rate if you have say 6 or 7 people? On this trip I did the DE Shuttle but I was thinking in the future I might use the cab going from the airport and the shuttle going back. However we would normally have 6 people. I was wondering if they have a large enough cab say a van cab or bus type cab and would we still be able to get that rate? And does anyone know if they have raised their rates now that gas has gone up?

There is an official Disneyland Resort Bus from John Wayne/Orange County Airport and LAX - the 2 routes are served by different buses. It's really inexpensive and operated by Grayline Buses.

The cost from SNA is $14 one way/$24 roundtrip for an adult; $12 one way/$16 roundtrip for a child, plus tip.

I haven't taken them myself in years (since I moved here to the LA area), but I used to be a weekly business traveller out of the LA airports and would do a non-stop option like that over Super Shuttle. With Super Shuttle, you get loaded up with other families and have to make several stops to drop them off. Plus, some of the drivers can make you a bit queasy....
