Transportation from Sanford to WDW?

I'm helping a friend plan her trip to WDW since she's never been there. They're flying into Sanford Airport. The prices for RT towncar transportation and a rental car are about the same (around $200). She doesn't really want a rental car, and she wants to find something cheaper than the towncar.

She asked about taking a cab to and from the airport, but it seems like that would be pretty expensive. Does anyone have any idea what a cab might cost, or have any suggestions for less expensive RT transportation?

I agree, Cab will be pretty expensive (after tips, close to a towncar). If I were her, I would rent a car and drive to the resort, and just park it. That way, even if she needs the car to get offsite for something, she's got it.

I'm wondering the same question. We have 6 in our party so we need a van. happy limo (who we used before and had good service with) was $277 r/t + gratuity; quicksilver-tours.com was $210 + gratuity; and fltours.com was $225 + gratuity. So, what I'm looking for is decent price and good service.

We used Magictransportion.com from oia to disney at a very reasonable rate. On their website they have sanford to wdw for 175.00 round trip. The service was Great! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

That might be a "resonable rate", but when you compare that to a rental car, its not such a good deal!

We're not looking for a rental car for two reasons: 1) DH doesn't feel like driving on vacation because he drives a lot for work; 2) with six of us, the price of a minivan for 9 nights is way more than $200. Additionally, I don't want to be bothered to have to drop the rental off, then find connecting transportation to the hotel. If we were staying with less people and for 7 days or less, I agree, the rental car would be the better way to go. We've used L & M from MCO in the past with great rates, service, and cars when DH had a conference. Also, once we're at Disney, we just use their transportation anyway.

So, at this point I need feed back on the following: magic transportation ($175 r/t); murray hill ($210 r/t); and quick silver tours ($210 r/t). Each include all taxes, fees ect, you just add gratuity and get a grocery stop. We had good luck with happy limo last year, but they want $277+gratuity and I can't see paying the difference.

Thanks for your help

We are going to use magictranspotation for our upcoming vacation to Disney.Read some great reviews on the boards about this company and as you can see their rates are very reasonable. Also read some good reviews about the Quicksilver.Good luck! :sunny:

Last time we flew into Sanford (1999), we used Coach USA - not a problem, but is this truly the cheapest way to go? $40 round-trip per person. Is there a cheaper shuttle from Sanford?

How about Lynx? Would we have to switch a million times or just once or twice? How safe is public transport in Orlando? I just want to make sure I explore all my options 1st.

I'm just exploring pricing to see if a trip may be in our future sometime down the road and I need to know how bare bones it can be done...

We have used Coach USA a few times from Sanford to WDW and found them to be the least expensive option, reliable, clean and very nice drivers. I would not hesitate to use them again.

I'll be using American Coach on Thursday to get from Sanford to WDW. The cost is $14 per person one way- $28 r/t. I'll be back on the 29th and will let you know what happens. :sunny:

How did you get $28 RT? I was quoted $40 RT.

Just wondering if I'm missing something. We are staying at POP, FYI. Are you offsite?

Thanks so much for the straight talk... :goodvibes

wendydarling - thanks for the info, sounds like you, patio, and I have all had similiar good experiences with Coach USA. Good news that they are still doing a pretty good job. :sunny:

jay-nee, I called 1-800-781-8999 and pressed #1, which is dispatch. They told me $14 one way/ $28 r/t. It was also on their website. :sunny:

I am also staying at POP. They will pick us up at 8:15 am for our 11:15 am flight home. :sunny:

What is their website address? We will be flying into Sanford as well & this sounds like a great price, thanks! :goodvibes

Thanks a million! Have a wonderful trip! Only 2 days, wow, lucky you! :sunny:

Will you post a trip report when you return? I'd love to hear the details...

Happy Tuesday! -jay-nee :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

jay-nee, thanks for the good wishes! :goodvibes
I will definitely let you know all about my trip when I get back. :sunny:

tinknme, I got that same page, too. Sorry about that! I haven't been on the website in a few weeks, but, that link used to take me to American Coach's reservation page and it listed the rates at $14 one way/ $28 r/trip. I prefer talking to someone rather than reserving on line so I called the 1-800-781-8999 number, then press #1 for dispatch. I was quoted the $14 each way rate, so I made a reservation. There also was no charge for any child 2 and under. Hope this helps! :sunny:

tinknme, I forgot to say that I made the reservation last week. I believe the dispatcher said I needed to book 24 hours in advance. :sunny:

Thank you Patio :flower: Is this a bus that picks you up & takes you to your resort? Are there other people on this as well? Just want to know what I am calling about. Thanks for your help!

tinknme, I know they have vans and buses, so I'm thinking we'll be on a bus. I guess it depends on how many other reservations they have. And if it's a bus, there could be alot of stops I would think. My plane lands at 5:20 pm so maybe there won't be too many people. I'll let you know when I get back. :sunny:

PS. Your children are adorable! :sunny:
