I just got a call from my friend who is staying at the CBR 6/26/09 to 7/3/09. She fouled up and booked airfare through Allegiant and are flying into Orlando Sanford not Orlando International. Now, she needs a car service to take her to the CBR. I have no idea who to recommend since we have only used Magical Express.

Do any of you have recommendations? If not a car service, then a taxi?

Also, any idea how much she needs to budget for the taxi or car service?

Thanks!

*********** has picked us up at Sanford before. I actually prefer Sanford to MCO because it's much smaller and easier to navigate. Not as crowded, either.

Here is a website for Sanford Airport that will give the names of companies that are licensed to pickup passengers.
I have used Tiffany there before and they were quite wonderful. But, it is almost double the cost to get a car service there vs at MCO...it is about an hours drive to WDW. But it is a great airport.

Thanks for the information so far. She is kicking herself in the rear. Right now, those lower airfares (which she can't change) aren't looking so great to her.

I'm looking very closely at Allegiant's flights. Right now, I could book a flight down to Sanford from Hagerstown, Md-a 2 hour drive from my home, the same as Pittsburgh-for TWENTY NINE DOLLARS on certain days. Then, fly home for the same price! Oh, sure, they charge for seat selection, priority claim on the overhead carry-on storage space and checked luggage fees, but I am very tempted to try them out for a long weekend this coming July.

I could fly down for the $29, use only carry-on, take whatever seat I get and no priority storage of my carry-on, on Friday July 10th. Same on the return flight on Monday, July 13th. For an extended weekend, I don't need no stinkin' baggage!! :)

$60 round-trip from Sandford, and spend the weekend at Daytona? I can't wait to try out Allegiant.

Ha, a little off topic, but I love your sig. I tell DD5 everytime she whines god kills a kitten:rotfl:

We love Allegiant. We use them when we go to WDW. It's about an hour from SC to Sanford, then about 45 minutes from Sanford to WDW. That definitely beats the 8-10 hour drive (depending on how many potty stops we make)!

When we flew down in May we got a great deal on an Alamo rental car. It was about $190 ($140 rental + about $50 tax) for a mid-size Kia, which is about what we would've paid to have a service pick us up, but we didn't have to rush through the grocery store and we had the convenience of having the car all week.

Renting a car, for one day, pick up at Sanford and drop off at WDW then reversing the procedure for your trip home is probably the cheapest solution.

Also price keeping the car for your entire trip.

You can bid on priceline for a rental car for the entire stay and pay less than a towncar. Use airport code SFB when bidding.

My friend just called. She got a limo service to pick them up from the airport and then a towncar to take them back for $195.00. I thought that was a bit high (but then again, we don't use a car service) but she was happy with the price.

Thanks for the information everybody!

That's about what we paid years ago. I think the rate has probably stayed close to $200 or so. That's what I would expect to pay if I booked car service from Sanford.

Just called and got some estimates on shuttle services from Olrando/Sanford.

American Coach 407-826-9999 7a-7p $32 perperson 7p-7a $60perperson

Orlando Carriers 407-936-0513 9a-7p $72 7p-7a $60

these are all one way fares.

Try Sanford Transportation company...they quoted me $145 for round trip from Sanford to WDW or $159 for a van shuttle. They have a website, but I can't remember the name. Just go to a search engine and type in "Sanford Transportation". They also include a free grocery stop and car seats....

When "Sanford Transportation" says they are transporting you in a van shuttle that means you will wait for one to three groups to fill up the van. Each group will pay $145.00. It is like Mears shuttle serivice in Orlando, but much more expensive.

If you get quoted $145.00 you may be riding with other families. But you won't find that out until you land in Sanford, a little to late to do anything about it. I would suggest that you make sure you are the only family riding before you commit to that type of transportation. With one or two more families it could add about 1/2 to 1 hour to the ride. It is not worth it.

For a few bucks more you can ride with your family only straight from the airport to the resort with a grocery stop if you request it.
