We are going to WDW for the first time this summer, flying with Virgin. The return transfers were part of the package. But I have a few questions.

1. How long is the drive from MCO to Disney?

2. What is the Virgin bus service like?

3. Might it be better to use this new magic express thingy-ma-jig?

4. Might it be even better to throw dollars to the wind and book a limo?

I just have recurring nightmares about Disney buses after a dreadful experience in Paris - so would welcome any input or opinions please :confused3

Hi
1. Never driven so I cant help on that.

2. Virgin transfers can end up taking over an hour easily especially if your dropped off last.

3. I may be wrong but I dont think that Virgin are part of the Magical Express.

4. We use a towncar service (Tiffanys) they meet us at the luggage area , they are a resonable price and will do a free 30 min grocery stop if req. They are flexible with there return time if you do the downtown disney check in and dont want to get to the airport too early.

Hope that helps :)

You're right Tiggery - Virgin don't 'do' the Magical Express because they provide their own return/transfers.

I'm travelling with Virgin though and I'm finding out about getting the luggage tags (or something) so I can use the ME :)
Someone here as either just left or is going soon with Virgin and I think they're doing the ME and they'll probably let us know about it when they get back (OMG - who is it?! Why can't I remember?).

I'm sure that you can use Magical Express when you fly with Virgin. This is how I think it works: You just sign up for ME and they send you special luggage tags. You still have to pick your bags up at the first baggage claim after imigration control and put them on the conveyor, but then because of the special baggage tags they are picked off by the Disney ME people and shipped off to your resort. You then just have to go out and get on the Disney transportation.

Note, Swan/Dolphin hotels aren't included in ME :(

Yes, you can do it, but not 'through' Virgin.. which means you have to find out about the tags and get them yourself from Disney.

Why can't Virgin just join in the fun?! :)

I don't think any international flights have yet been able to join in with ME :)

It's about a thirty minute drive from MCO to most of WDW (depends on where you are going exactly)

I will be using ME when I go in August if that's any use to you VSL?

We've driven both times, and it's been ok. Fairy easy to navigate and well sign posted etc. Got caught in the most dreadful storm driving to hotel last time and it was really scary - we couldn't see out of our windscreen and all these cars kept flying past.

I'd go for the limo!!!! Why not arrive in style!!

We did the virgin transport last year. Yes, we did have to wait for people to board the bus but it wasn't long(about half an hour) and i took this time to sit in the sun and chat to the driver.

Thanks for the input everyone. The kids are pressing for the limo .. I'm tempted too - just the thought of extra money to spending Disney putting me off!

I've only done one flight this long before (to Antigua) and was wretched after the long flight - luckily we were on an official visit so we went through the diplomatic channels and were picked up. I doubt somehow that that will happen in orlando :rotfl2:
