A rides share will your lowest cost option. To reduce traffic going to the terminal, LAX directs fire shares to a designed lot (LAX-IT) for pick-up. You can either walk (about 10 minutes from T5, where JetBlue operates from) or take the free shuttle. If you order your ride when you start to walk or take the bus, the airport will time it so that it’s waiting for you when you get there. On the return, the ride share can drop you off directly at the terminal (not the lot). A premium ride share like Uber Black can pick you up curbside (no need for the lot).
Right now, Uber is showing $62 to the DLH, or $120 for Uber Black. Costco sells $100 gift cards for $80. In today’s world, there’s no reason to order an executive car unless it gives you a false sense of security.
For a 9AM flight, I wouldn’t leave any later than 6AM. I’d budget 75 minutes for the drive (10-15 minutes will be spent waiting in traffic while navigating LAX), and 45-60 minutes to get checked-in/ through TSA. You need to consider that it’s a hike from DLH to LAX, and any accident will cripple traffic, so pad accordingly.
